Sterling, please take a step back and look at this issue through the eyes of someone who comes from a non-programming background and just entered the the world of PHP. Do you realistically think it will be as easy for him as it was for you to overcome the language barrier? Also please think about the billions of people who are not in such a privileged situation of having Internet access all the time. Think of school labs which are not permanently connected; think of poor countries where access is not easily available; think of home users with time-metered dial-up access.
