I believe the purpose of PLUG as formal organization is to represent
Linux users in the Philippines. We all love Linux and support one
another through the mailing list, but where will it take us? ask
yourself what have we achieved and what are the efforts we've done to
promote Linux and Open Source in the Philippines? If we'll do protest in
front of the congress about the misuse of funds for IT in the government
and urge govt agencies to use open source instead of M$, who do we
represent? if some company will donate for our advocacy, how do we
acknowledge it? a mailing list? a virtual group? we must at least have a
legal entity. The mailing list will always be there and open for
everyone, even if PLUG, the formal group, is dissolved.

I don't think forming a legal entity will divide us, but instead make us
stronger and united, because it'll boost our sense of pride as the first
Linux users group in the PHils.

We have to accept the fact that times are changing, what's working for
us before may not work well today. It's time to move on to greater
heights.
