The value of the members for life is simply the recognition of their contributions to PLUG and the community and nothing else. This is like providing a honorary doctorate degree to somebody -- in the case of UP, he/she is nominated by the University Council and then approved by the Board of Regents.
Making the founders life members is to give them due recognition. Adding to the list of life-members may or may not be an annual exercise like the Queen of UK knighting its subjects. And no, it will not give an elitist atmosphere since there is he/she gets NO other benefit except for not having to pay the annual membership dues, if there is even one or is very minimal at that. The same way that honorary doctorates do not get promoted due to having a PhD or DSc or JD but thru merit. -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
