If it's imported/refreshed through a manual operation and cached in the prefs files it's acceptable, I just don't want to manually add all artists/albums manually when I've already done it in playlists in Spotify. I know the challenge is that Spotify generally is very playlist and track oriented, while I personally prefer to browse my collection through Artist/Album/Tracks structure, independent if we are talking about my local collection or my "Spotify collection".
If the "Stared tracks" or an individual playlist would be browseable through Artist/Album/Track hierarchy that would also work as a solution, but I suspect this is probably going to generate performance issues if playlist queries causes performance issues. We started to do something like this in the SMD project but for various reasons I don't think it will be released in the near future, so possibly it could make sense to do something directly in the Spotify plugin for it if it doesn't require too much work.
