The founding fathers did nothing in this regard except use the phrase "natural born".
So, indeed the founding fathers left it open to legislate. Whether by design or accident is of no consequence as it (what the founding fathers did or did not do) can not be changed. Immigration law does the rest. The law in effect at the time of ones birth is the deciding factor. I have not said that i agree with this just that it is indeed so. Your inability to deal with it notwithstanding.
