According to Thomas Friedman of the NYTimes, the American consumer is the salvation of this recession- 11-16-08. Not only will our taxes and those of future generations pay for the bailout of Fat Cats but we are to shop-till-we-drop and accumulate debt-we-forget to support any and all with a neon light or a 30 second commercial. This is a crass suggestion. Banks don't want us to save and be secure or they would pay higher interest rates- they want us to strangle ourselves with debt while they conjure fees they can tack on to our money/earnings as the various governments of city, state and federals conjure taxes. This is rule by "divine right" by "aristocrats" under a new guise.
