Ok we have a couple things to address here. You have again stated that "we have the best health care." Based on what, your opinion? You are having trouble seeing the forest due to all the trees beinging in the way. The problem is that our health cost more, and yet it isn't better. There are numerous stories of one person coming from Canada to the U.S. for a procedure, but count up all these stories and they represent maybe a couple thousand people out of millions of Canadians. You can't make the exception the rule, and yes, thousands out of millions are exceptions. Now if millions of Canadians did this, the argument would be valid. How many people from the U.S. go abroad for experimental procedures not available in the U.S.? Does this mean Mexico has better health care than us?
And yes some people grumbled when Bush and Co. got the bailout pushed through, but to say that Fox News and the Right urged Americans to put as much pressure on the government as over this Health Care is an outright lie. So it's ok to line fat cat corporate CEOs' pockets but not to take care of average Americans? And in regards to your (slippery slope) fallacious argument about Government telling you what to wear and what to eat....Really? The truth of the matter is we are not self sufficient and we will never be again. Someone coughs in China and the stock market drops 2000 points. A hurricane on the Gulf Coast drives the price of oil up world wide. And what exactly is so wrong with this in your opinion? If we can get everyone Health Care without more taxes, without healthcare quality going down and without healthcare costs going up, what is the problem? I'm guessing you are going to say something along the lines of "government does not belong in health care." But yet, the Right feels comfortable with Government dictating what people can or can't with their own bodies (i.e. Abortion)? How do you explain this inconsistency?
