The problem is not that the USA is a Republic or that that Republic is supposedly based in "Democratic" principals....
The problem is the level at which the courts are "allowed" to interpret with no oversight... the level at which Congress subrogates its sworn duty outside of its defined branch of checks and balances, and the power-grab that is unchecked by the administrative branch. In other words the ignorance and complacency toward the representatives of the governed who are themselves by law the actual governing body. Until the people themselves are fed up enough, in great enough numbers, and themselves effect change nothing will ever be done to quell the ever increasing segregation of the masses from the supposed representatives of said same.
