Strange then that there would not be a civil rights bill if it were not
for the Republicans who voted for it in a higher percentage than the
Democrats and that was first proposed by Sen Mac Mathias, Republican of
Maryland. LBJ then pushed it and Sen Dirksen and Rep Halleck, the
republican leaders in the senate and house, brought the Republicans in
line to vote for it. The democrats just barely managed a split while
the Republicans voted for it by a 3-1 margin.
What you are calling minorities that the Democrats cater to are those
who the Democrats treat as serfs, peons, strictly votes. They toss a
few bucks at them and then claim that they are doing all they can to
protect their rights. Then the Democrats siphon the bucks from the
wealthier who already pay over 50% of the taxes who then do not invest
to create the jobs that the Dems claim are needed.
BTW the rich people you talk about voted primarily for the Democrats,
not the Republicans, especially the rich people on Wall Street. Check
who the major donors to Zero were from the financial community and you
will find a list of all the major firms on Wall Street. When Bubba was
president his biggest donors were also Wall Street firms as well as
Enron and World Communications and you know what happened to them.
They screwed the pooch on accounting (thanks to Krugman for Enron as an
example) and went bust but when Clinton was in office he sent his
cabinet officers with the Enron salesmen to our 3rd world allies to get
them contracts. In effect he was using his cabinet officers as
lobbyists for Enron. Also check the list of the richest senators and
representatives. Of the top 20, 13 are Dems and 7 are Republicans.
The Republicans are mainly supported by the middle class and upper
middle class, not the rich. You need to change you propaganda. It is
totally out of date.

Sounds like the Bush family.
Rome was a Republic, before and after the first Caesar (Julius),
albeit in different forms. And had Constitutions for what they were
worth....nothing.
Athens was a Democracy.
Now, who do you think attacked who to expand their empire?
Ah the virtuous nature of Republics.
The point is; Republicans are just as quick (if not quicker) to
subvert the Constitution than any Democrats are.
A Constitutional Republic is meant to protect the rights of
minorities, and yet at almost every turn, Republicans try to squash
any rights of minorities.
Minorities in Republican speak means; Republicans, rich Republicans
specifically.
"We the people" means in Republican speak; Republicans, rich
Republicans specifically.
