Some of the major linux distros are still distributing 4.2.4.

We've also documented how to easily plug this hole in older releases:

I agree with you.  The first release of 4.2.6 was in December of 2009,
so that was just over 4 years ago.

What have you done to help make NTP releases happen more frequently?
And I don't me just you alone.
