Informal poll: what thing weirded you guys out the first time you touched
OpenBSD ports coming from other platforms.

Wouldn't say it weirded me out, but it took me quite a while to create some sort of mental model about what's going on with everything involving WANTLIB. And I'm sure the one I have now is wrong ;)

That and I don't know how often I've wiped my ports tree in the beginning because I accidentally used 'CVS up' with a 027 umask ...

What kind of gotcha can we get rid of, so that "new ports" will tend to
be squeaky clean, infrastructure-wise, and ready for import.
An FAQ of sorts might *help*, particularly one addressing the more typical beginner mistakes. What are the things that you guys immediately look out for when a new name offers up a diff because they're usually done wrong?

If you give *me* a list of common beginner's mistakes however, that just means that I'll make less common ones. I've yet to meet anyone for whom that's substantially different, so "squeaky clean" diffs from first timers may generally out of reach, no matter how great the documentation.

As to the causes for the mistakes I made so far, I can however confirm that none of them were attributable to CVS or any part of the toolchain ;-p
