Dear List,

I am trying to install my Imacon PIII on my XP system and seem to be failing
at the first hurdle. My system was upgraded with a SCSI board , and the only
SCSI device connected to the PC is the scanner. The cable connecting the
scanner/PC is a SCSI II cable, and address 3 is set on the scanner.

Dear Gordon

Not being familiar with XP but it is based on NT/2K so should not be that different on the basics.

After switching on the scanner the PC is booted, but always fails to boot
properly, and stalls at the point where the XP logo page is displayed. Just prior
to that a message is displayed saying that Windows has encountered a
problem, and gives me some options to proceed, none of which have the
desired effect. I also tried setting address two on the scanner, with the same
results.

When booting does the SCSI controller show up? If so have you tried hitting Ctr and A at that point and then seeing if your card is identified as a SCSI device. If it is seen check what number it is, then you can make sure this corresponds to the setting on the scanner.

If the card does not show up, I suggest powering down and removing the card and re-starting....close down and put the card in again and restart....it should be seen. If it is not, then I suggest you have a duff card, or perhaps it is not making a good connection. BTW is the card one that is recommended for that scanner? This will not alter the fact that it should show up at start-up.

Best of luck.

Richard
