Penny, What normally happens is that the PTR1 will have saved the current position near abouts where the error occurred, then when you restart you should be at the same position.

Or when the error message happens, does it allow you to set the bookmark for your current position before beginning to monkey around and try to get it to straighten up and play without the error messages.
