I knew that Carl's call sign sounded familiar but I didn't
put it all together until seeing Dan's note on QRP-L.

Seeing as how Carl is an Executive Director of No-Code
International, and the NCI Web site very clearly states:

[we all know that NCI's goal has been the elimination of the code test
requirement]

Besides, I publicly stated, that, if elected, I would step down from the
Board of NCI.

But, it seems a bit "politcal" of you to have castigated the ARRL for
exclusion based on your business, when in fact the No Code issue may have been, at the very least, part of their resistance to you being a candidate.

Or, could it be that you weren't politcal enough to realize that your position
in NCI would be viewed as a conflict.

Second, since NCI is strictly not-for profit, a difference on individual
views on the code test issue does NOT constitute a "conflict of interest."
("Conflict of interest" is a legal term meaning that one could manipulate
things to one's personal financial gain ... Something that CLEARLY doesn't
apply to me - especially in light of the sworn affidavit I submitted of my
own volition UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY.)

(Note: Conflict of Interest isn't restricted to financial matters, so your
use of the narrow definition is disturbing to me.)

The sad part is that we may never know if the issue was your NCI connection, your business interests, the ARRL, or some combination of all the factors.

Furthermore, if you've read the NPRM, it's abundantly obvious that "the fat
lady's vocal chords are THROUGHLY tuned up".

I've been VERY upfront with EVERY club and everyone at every hamfest I've
visited about my association with NCI and my belief that the code test has
outlived its relevance for getting a license.

Even the IARU's policy is "The continuance of a Morse test requirement is
not consistent with a healthy future for the Amateur Radio Service."

Look at the UK ... One of the first to eliminate Morse test requirements
after WRC-03 ... Has the world gone to hell in a handbasket? No! Both the
RSGB and OFCOM (their equivalent of our FCC) are VERY happy with a
resurgence of growth, and interest, in ham radio.

Sure looks like one of your agendas is No Code, which may be a bit of a bias for someone who purported to represent Amateur Radio in general.

The code test issue is a dead issue ... I've told folks that we need to "get
over it" REGARDLESS of our individual views and get on with the TRULY
important issue facing ham radio going into the future ...

Will you say the same thing("get over it") relative to advanced digital?
