That statement seems to be based on a belief that "Amateur Radio is ALL about Morse Code" ... Something that flies in the fact of fact in light of
the multitude of diverse interests in Amateur Radio.

I disagree. It means (to me) that you have had some pretty high profile conflicts with the ARRL in your role as an Executive Director of No Code International and that has given them cause to question whether your interests and theirs are compatible. Whether you agree with it or not, that does constitute a conflict between you and them.

The code test issue is a dead issue ... I've told folks that we need to "get
over it" REGARDLESS of our individual views and get on with the TRULY
important issue facing ham radio going into the future ...

If you've got your blinders irrevocably on WRT the (dead)code issue and see the TRULY important issues, you're ignoring the things that could REALLY
hurt us going forward.

I agree.

But there was clearly a deception here, even though it wasn't perpetuated by you.

*MANY* of the crusty curmudgeons here and on QRP-L have ranted and raved for years about NCI and its (apparently successful) work to eliminate the code requirement. But the second someone said that the ARRL was doing something underhanded, the same curmudgeons cried "Conspiracy!" and "Sneaky Deals"!

My guess is that they had no clue that they were running to the aid and defense of the Executive Director of the No Code International. No one brought that fact up until today ... so either they were unaware *OR* it was being hushed up to prevent anyone from thinking that the ARRL had actually made a choice that many folks here and on QRP-L would agree with.

The irony of this will bring me joy for a long time ... :-)
