*MANY* of the crusty curmudgeons here and on QRP-L have ranted and raved for years about NCI and its (apparently successful) work to eliminate the code requirement. My guess is that they had no clue that they were running to the aid and defense of the Executive Director of the No Code International. No one brought that fact up until today ... so either they were unaware *OR* it was being hushed up to prevent anyone from thinking that the ARRL had actually made a choice that many folks here and on QRP-L would agree with.

The irony of this will bring me joy for a long time ... :-)

73,

I must admit, I had not known Carl was Director of No Code International.

HOWEVER, as I said, I didn't agree with his other proposals. I would not have voted for him, if he had run. My POINT is, though, it is still underhanded of the ARRL to not allow him to run, even if it was because of his No Code stance. Don't you think the membership has a right to vote, or should all such decisions be made by the Executive Committee?

Besides, I seriously doubt the ARRL's objection is Carl's NCI affiliation. For the past few years the ARRL, through it's puppet, the NCVEC, has been every bit a no-code as NCI.

Anyway, knowing Carl's leadership role in NCI is just another reason I wouldn't vote for him, but I still resent the ARRL not giving me the chance to NOT vote for him.
