Forgot to include demographics close to home: Fat Hopi, Zuni, Navajo etc. exquisitely inclined to diabetes after they left their traditional squash/corn/ beans/game/mutton diets for refined carbs 'n' lard. (I've seen families at the checkout counter with the standard 20 lb cloth bags of bleached white flour + 5 gallon plastic pails of lard.)
