I did that:

# rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.1.2-11

But in the meantime (after having started this thread and before
your first answer) I simply installed a new glibc-2.1.3-15.i386.rpm
without the slightest error-message during install.
After this I installed the new lynx requiring this new GLIBC_...
and even a new rgrep ...
but when I tried to start the newly installed lynx it failed to
start (with an error-message on something like "touchscreen"
or so ...) and after this the console on which I was trying to start
lynx was crashing: I couldn't type absolutely nothing into it ...
I quickly moved to another console and replaced all this newly
installed stuff with the former older versions ...
I don't know ... I think I made a stupid mistake while installing
the new lynx-version, for I had been running (during this lynx-install)
the *old* lynx-version on an xterm while trying at the same time to
install the new lynx-version on the console ...

On the other hand I am not sure on this new glibc-2.1.3-15.i386.rpm:
I've heard -- *after* I tried to install it :) -- glibc-2.1.3 seems to
be buggy ...
