Booted to single user mode.
Logged in as regular user, then
login
login: root
PAM-securetty[407]: Error opening /etc/securetty

I looked at securetty with ls -l securetty  while logged in as same regular
user
-rw------- 1 root   root   114  Jun 13  2001 securetty

cat securetty gives me:
cat: securetty : Permission denied
