Well you're right my new machine does have a DVD RW drive which is the
one I've been using but...

My old machine had a DVD ROM drive which I used to use as well as a CDR
drive and both worked fine.  In any case, any drive can stream data to
the CPU way faster than in can encode so that can't be the limitation.

When my old PC was ripping flat-out the CPU would be maxed out at 100%
(hence the limit on it's encoding speed) but when my new machine is
ripping at x2.1 Task Manager also shows it as being at 100% CPU usage.

There's no way a 3yr old P4 2.53Ghz processor is more powerful than a
brand new 64bit AMD Athlon64 3000 so what's going on?
