The DVD drives are on a separate IDE channel to the HDs but the thing I don't get is if the drive is being slow then what's keeping the CPU busy at 100%? Surely if the drive is streaming data to the CPU so slowly then it wouldn't need to run at 100% to keep pace with the encoding process...
When I get home I'll try using the old DVD ROM drive, if that does the same them there's obviously something else wrong which I'm missing.
