all my wav files are individually tagged with artist, album, name, genre, year, comments, album art, and a myriad of other info if i choose to add it. the program i use (tag&rename) allows me to obtain this info from amazon.com, freedb, and a couple other sources. i'm not sure where it's being written into the wav file. i read somewhere once that this info is contained in riff data which the squeezebox is able to read. all i know is that it works perfectly so far. as far as wasting hard drive space, i'm not using it for anything else. i have two dedicated hard drives (one is my source, one is my backup). the only purpose they serve is to hold my music. i have all my music on a 500GB drive that is half full and a backup on a 1TB drive. call it peace of mind for a slightly ocd man. at least i don't try to argue that squeezecenter 7.2 sounds better than 7.3.2.
