Actually WAV files are not LOSSLESS but NATIVE.  If you compare a WAV
file of a tune to a lossless version of it, i.e. FLAC or ALAC, the WAV
file will be almost twice as large as the lossless file and require
more bandwidth as well.  Lossless files are just that, NO LOSS and
sound exactly like the original native, discreet version.

Just an FYI.... 

As far as what's the best for you, I think someone already said that
FLAC is great if you're on a PC.  If everything you do is on a Mac, the
Apple Lossless has the same quality as FLAC but will be much easier to
manage.
