This is actually what happened. When I type in "\\" by hand, it works.
So, I shall have to use the separator (";"), find a different tagging
software or tag by hand ... :p

However, there is still the problem with a pair of artists, of whom you
only own this one album.

When I have multiple albums of those artists (meaning other albums than
the example), I get three entries (using -Riding With The King- as
example):

Eric Clapton
B.B. King
Eric Clapton, B.B. King

who all show the album *Riding With The King*. So this works alright, I
guess.

However, if I only have the one album of these artists, I only get one
artist entry (using -Live At Luther College- by *Dave Matthews & Tim
Reynolds* as example):

Dave Matthews, Tim Reynolds

To me, this looks like a bug, because I would also expect single entries
of both artists. Am I overlooking something?
