Hi, Forgive me if I'm missing information as I've only skim read this thread.
For the sake of my simple brain, you have your old server which mounts a NAS box to /var/snd. The Riv clients then connect to the server's /var/snd (which is the NAS box). The theory is as long as they can access the server you shouldn't have any problems as the server takes care of the NFS exports so the clients have no clue they're going off to the NAS box. Are the same audioowner and groups used between the on air and production machines? It sounds like they're using different users hence the permission problems? I guess the first place to start is checking /etc/rd.conf on the ones that are working and the ones that aren't.
