Rhett,
I started with Marx three rail. At about age 10 I started my "scale"
modeling in HO. I took up S after visiting Sam Powell's Penn Creek Valley in
1987, although I had thought about it for some time. I grew up in Farmington
Hills, MI, so a local hobby shop had a fair sampling of AM equipment. (They
were still in Farmington Hills at the time.) I sold off most of my HO to
finance the jump. I Still have a few pieces here and there. I had an On3
engine that went in the great conversion also. (The really neat thing about
On3 was that you could use a small block of pine as a rough track gauge!)
