        I started with Marx three rail.  At about age 10 I started my "scale" 
modeling in HO.  I took up S after visiting Sam Powell's Penn Creek Valley in 
1987, although I had thought about it for some time.  I grew up in Farmington 
Hills, MI, so a local hobby shop had a fair sampling of AM equipment.  (They 
were still in Farmington Hills at the time.)  I sold off most of my HO to 
finance the jump.  I Still have a few pieces here and there.  I had an On3 
engine that went in the great conversion also.  (The really neat thing about 
On3 was that you could use a small block of pine as a rough track gauge!)
