Have to confess I'm a longtime rubber-gauger. Started with Lionel under the
Christmas tree at age six, discovered HO at 12, started seeing S in my
peripheral vision in my 20's, went so far as to get a few S Gauge Heralds. I
really wanted models larger than HO. Flirted with P48 in my thirties, but
quickly found that I would need a warehouse for a layout. Broke down and jumped
into S about five years ago.. It's a continual struggle finding what I think I
need, especially passenger equipment and steam power. Someone like Jim King
comes along just often enough with frieght cars of interest, or Bob McCarthy
with passenger equipment, to keep me from giving up. I still think that S is
the perfect size.
