Yup...my first train set was Flyer, my dad I built up quite a roster and had an
impressive layout in the back of the garage (no basements in San Francisco). In
addition we had a display layout we built in sections that went around the tree
in the living room. That allowed us to inflict model railroading on all our
friends and relatives once a year!

When I went away to college in addition to girls, football, etc...I decided to
build a logging layout (thank you Jack Work and Paul Larson-Mineral Point
Northern RR) with a 1920's era flavor. It was small and ran on a 3'6 by 6'6"
table so I went HO. Had a PFM shay and a Ma &Pa consolidation. That started me
in HO for many years. Dabbled in S Scale when I built up a Geep 35 in WP,
several years ago (sold that one to Lee Johnson), and stayed in HO for reasons
I can't explain. But I continued to follow S Scale happenings.

I just this year made the decision to switch fully to S Scale, and sold all my
HO to friends and anyone else I could find and am glad I did. I don't have a
layout up yet but am building turnouts, structures and planning how best to do
an effective around the wall shelf layout. I think moving to S was a great
decision. There are plenty of offerings from the manufacturers, and S scalers
are modelers, where as HO is being taken over by toy train collectors. S is
best!
