Hi Peter and all ---

My experience at the hobby shop was similar to yours -- almost ALL young
kids like trains. What I ran into was the parents' lack of support in
letting the kids really getting involved in the hobby because the parents
weren't. Many of the younger ones left the building crying... Those
children that did get parental support generally became avid model
railroaders.

VERY nice work on the layout. Having the smaller railroad and
systematically working your way through it has really paid off. If I EVER
get that far along on the SLE&P, it will be a miracle!

Speaking of the monster, this week saw more rolling stock and locomotion
maintenance completed, but not much modeling. At least things are running
better... I spent a bit more time finishing off Brooks’ booklet on the
BC&G. The guy is first class. His “Conductors’ Orders” for operating the
layout are an inspiration about how to handle simple operations. I can see
a variant being used on the CCC narrow gauge here in PV.

Quite a bit of my time this week was taken up by NASG tasks. You all won’t
see immediate results, but I think in the long term you will.

Have fun, and a great Thanksgiving!

... I am no expert, but my observations at local model
railroad shows where the general audience attends is that there are lots
and lots of little boys (and girls, too!) who are fascinated by trains.

For my "FNF" report, I submit the addition of scratchbuilt trees and the
re-do of the creek (done last week):
