Hi David,

I was wondering...

You said SA is running as a service, using the admin login. Is this the
admin login for the local machine (running SA) or for a domain. When you run
the BAT manually, are you logged in with the same account that SA is using?
I'm thinking there's possibly a rights issue. This could be the case where
the log is showing it is running the BAT because it has rights to the BAT
itself, however, in the BAT file you are using a path to an administrative
share on another box. It might be possible that the login that the SA
service is using doesn't have rights to that share. Therefore, it would run
the batch file but be unable to check for the existence of the html file you
are looking for and unable to perform the rename's.

OK - this is frustrating. When I first upgraded and did some tests with the
alert command thing, it worked. Now it isn't. Here is the log and the
configuration I have - and this is with the latest BETA installed:

I have it setup for device EMSPRO to email me and run a command when down
and when back up.
The command is "c:\mainton2.bat" when down and email me
The command is "c:\maintoff2.bat" when back up after a down and email me.

Email always works.

The commands do not. Below is the log. YOu will see that it says it is
running the command, but it is not running in. If I run it separately, it
does indeed work, so I know the batch file works.

Even more odd, you will see below that the device came back up, but the log
doesn't show any attempt to run the 2nd command.

HELP!

How did you install? Directly on the system or via TS session?
Did you reboot after the install?

Dirk,

I installed the new beta version...

Everytime the service starts now, I get this error:

"ActiveX Component can't create object ( 429) on line 0"

It appears to run okay though. Now I will go do more testing with the Alert
Commands...

Try running it with the latest beta build (http://beta.woodstone.nu) it
includes logging when the command is executed.

Hi David,

Are you running SW as a normal exe (with GUI) or as a service? If it's as a
service are you using the system account to run it with or are you using a
specified login?

Are you including the full path to the executable in the command line, e.g.

c:\somedir\executable.exe

or just

executable.exe

Also, are you stopping SW before you check the log?

When it says path not found, you would assume it is logical, but it isn't
consistent.

The logfile is blank when it DOES work!!

I can put an alert in to run notepad.exe, and it will run notepad - when it
does this and works, there is NO ENTRY IN THE LOG!

If you send the same question twice (list and support) we answer the first
we get, and that was apparently the list...

When it shows path not found or file not found, then it seems logical that
it can't be executed.
As for those were nothing is within the logfile, I can only presume that
this means that the alert didn't fire because it didn't meet the conditions.

I sent an email to support with this information and never got an answer.

v4.1.1609.

Somethings I try to run show path not found, others say file not found, yet
others show nothing at all.

We have the latest version of SA (licensed) and can't get Alert Commands to
work. It does work if I try to run "notepad.exe" or "iexplore" and some
other things like that, but not to run an EXE or BAT file that I have
run....

Any ideas?

Thanks - Dave Bruck
