@24: Do you have a specific book that is better than the others? I mean, I use Automate the Boring stuff, using ... I think it was iconv to strip the Unicode dingbat negative sans serif digits from it, but I'm always open to suggestions. Then again, I've heard a while back that when you're learning to code, don't jump back and forth between programming languages. This may apply to code learning resources too. I really am bad about "sharpening my pencils" instead of actually diving in and Investing time into things.

@16 Nah, you got a point. I do wonder however if they're even aware that there are people that want to use their machines with visual disabilities. Native Instruments is making strides, if I can get a whole bunch of people to send them emails basically saying "We want to invest in your products, we are a market you might be missing out on" I think we could make at least a little bit of a difference.Maybe heads over there know about this kind of thing but aren't sure how many others would be interested, I think it would make more of an impact reaching out to them then a couple of reps going around on forums looking for feedback. As far as I know Akai hasn't even made a single statement regarding accessibility features at all.I think more blind people do music than people with any other disability, personally.

I mean, I could be talking out of my ass here, but if I don't get an LLC for my music business, even if I have the name first, and someone else copies it and gets an LLC after I had the name but didn't get one, I can't really do jack and shit about it, rite? I didn't register the LLC, or register for copyright. Why does using someone else's code have to equal stolen 100% of the time. If I don't want my shit stolen, I won't let it leak. Yeah I get shit happens but with the amount of times the phrase "stolen code" gets thrown around on here, either people are just looking to get up in arms about shit (probably some of it), or people really need to up their security for real.IF someone puts their code out there and I borrow from it, we're supposed to be a community, I'd give them credit for part of the code. I think that's fair. Even if there's no monetary compensation we both still benefit. But unless it can be proven that code was stolen, all this "stolen code" shit is just people shooting at imaginary targets because they're mad that some kid is eager to get feedback and writes an admittedly generic game.We all start somewhere, don't we?I'm not a programmer, I do music, Hip-Hop music at that, and anyone who knows Hip-Hop knows that taking pieces of other recordings and re-arranging them into new compositions is a key aspect of the culture. Same with dance music. Even outside of sample-based music, I don't think there's any such thing as 100% original, because everyone's inspired by something. The trick is to take bits of your inspirations, and take what you took from them to the next level, which is innovation. But if I was a dev on here, and I was trying to do a serious project, a game that I'm gonna put hours upon hours of effort into and release to the general public, first and foremost, it would be a paid game (not $60 AAA paid but still), and I would get the business rite. And I hate business, I hate politics. But its necessary. Its necessary to avoid getting screwed,Alright, rant over.Another quick point. If we encouraged people to learn from others than people wouldn't feel the need to hide the fact that they may have borrowed from someone else's code. If you do that here, now its like you get thrown down a flight of spiked stairs. Lots of the people on here are kids.

Fortunately my second save has both the bear claws and the jewel, so all I have to do is raise a couple of ryonsryons for fusion purposes.  So, I have a question. I want my bear to live a full lifespan but I still want to compete in the competitions. Which, apparently, are stressful enough even for the winners that they shorten lifespan. How many competions per year would be ideal? As a side note, my character in the first save is a true ancient at 100 years old.

There are plans of getting the screen into the Playstore. For now though it's delady do to Covid 19. That's the last I remember from the Telegram group.Although you do need the Telegram group to download the latest version (until a proper English site comes out), you can buy Commentary Premium from with n the Help and Support menu. Yes, not everyone uses Pay Pal, and I recommended Cash as an alternative. But yes, for many, if it ain't in the play store, many won't go out their way to grab an app like that, regardless of how good it is.Up To Down is a fantastic option (which is similar to the playstore as in its interface) and can replace it if ya don't like it.That would be the best alternative App store, if anywhere else.Just like with HUAWEI  phones these days and Windows Mobile phones back in the day, if Google ain't there, folks won't use it!

Then you're fucked. It's that simple.Seriously, bro. You are absolutely infamous for asking for things and then spitting on every. single. result you're given. You've pretty much guaranteed that I will never help you with anything game-related until your mindset changes. I'll still work with you in an official capacity if you need the help of an admin, but player to player? Just forget it. This is ludicrous. You ignore certain games because...uh, I don't even know why you ignored the Crystal Access games. You ignore others because they're paid. You ignore paid suggestions which might be free (say, from a friend or relative) because you don't want to play inaccessible games. News flash: they're not perfect, but I have beaten blue, yellow, silver, crystal, sapphire, emerald, pearl and black 2, and they're not inaccessible. Basically you want to battle other people and want to play pokemon, a paid game, for free. That's kind of not how it works. Stop shooting down every single suggestion you get. You wanted people to basically make your website for you. You wanted people to give you free web-hosting solutions. You want to have your cake and eat it, too. Well I'm just done.

Ethin already  posted a link to some great information on why you really should not collect the device Imei. If the dev doesn't like that, too bad, but I can't see the problem. The dev really can't tell us to fuck off, for the simple reason that he did nothing other than add the English translations Nuno worked on. In fact, he is the one doing most of the work for the international users. But hey, if you think Telegram is the right way to go about promoting such an important piece of software.

Re: Interest in accessibility being added to music making hardware

Of course we hope for accessibility and have complete right to do it all the time, but usually big companies just don't get it or simply don't give remote crap about the issue, because we are such a small bunch from their standpoint, that there is not enough reason to bother and that's where the sadness of it all is buried. Same goes for both hard- and software parts of the music making world. Nowadays there's a new kind of hybrid pain in the dark hole: such companies as Arturia or Behringer hide some, as they say: "non-performance settings" from the user behind some awful software solution, which is definitely not accessible. So while it's possible with some ocr-ing around and cursing loudly to perform firmware updates, it's definitely almost not possible to change those hidden settings without messing something up using those solutions. This last thing I don't really understand: why bother developing some strange software instead of just implementing some kind of alternative boot place or a small menu for changing those settings. So yeah - anyway, good luck in trying to convince Akai to make their newer line of MPC's accessible, but personally I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Obviously I'm in no way trying to be overly pessimistic or bring down somebody's hopes, it's just experience, that produces these thoughts.

I dono, I think having multiple perspectives is a good thing, especially if your primary resource didn't explain things well or failed to hit on some key points. I'll use myself as an example. I, mistakenly, got a book which only touched fundamentals of C. Since it was aimed at a beginner to programming, the text was pretty shallow. As a result, I had to ask on here and read through various online resources in order to understand why things worked the way they did. That is critical to learning. If your resource just tells you how to do things without explaining why you should do them this way, find something else on that topic.

@3Windows starts something like 100 "programs" just by being installed.  They're called services, and entirely invisible to you unless you go digging around in very advanced control panels.  Installing other programs--even ones that don't seem like they're starting anything--can also install services.  For example a lot of auto-updating functionality ends up being that way.At startup, all of those, plus NVDA, plus whatever else you've got that starts up, all try to start at the same time.  They all hit memory and the hard disk and etc. and just in general clobber it.  There's a bunch of caching and things that come online, ironically managed by some of those programs that make NVDA start slower, which makes the system fast from then on.But particularly bad and unsuspected by most programs include Dropbox (will hash directories just because it can), iTunes (lags the whole machine even when it's not started with the PC), Chicken Nugget back when it was a thing, anything that opens a web browser, any third party antivirus, Skype can sometimes lag it.  I could go on.Also go into power plans and make sure it's configured to be high performance.  That's a commonly overlooked thing with major impact as well.  But in general nothing's wrong, the computer isn't going to die on you, and you just have to wait it out.

It's been a long time since I've been active in the competitive pokemon battle scene, but I still follow it and can still make sense of it.That said, I was a prominent netbattler back in 2003-04, under GSC rules. I wasn't necessarily winning every match I played, but I wasn't losing a ton either. I knew how to play stall well, and I had a very anti-stall team that was great, great fun because several of its members could punch holes in stall teams by either using Fire Blast or blowing up on them.

@DJEPIC: The only way to really reach out to the dev is to go through Nuno since the dev does not speak English. Would be totally ok were it not for the fact there could be a lot done, and there isn't being work done, on a proper, more professional English distribution approach. Were this a free product I would not be complaining, but since it is a commercial product that has garnered a bit of an international audience it kind of pays to have a little bit more than an unofficial purchase process.

Re: want to learn coading.

2020-07-20 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : camlorn via Audiogames-reflector

Re: want to learn coading.

Before I give this answer, @26, I thought you were trying to learn C after having programmed in something else.  I think it's really important to emphasize that my answers here are aimed at someone who hasn't ever touched coding beyond perhaps a few lines at some point or something.  If someone who could already program some asked me the same questions they'd get a different answer. With that in mind, first, I'm afraid I don't have a better Python book.  I first programmed 15 years or so ago, on dial-up internet and back in the days when you could only run Jaws on a mainframe (I will never forget going to Best Buy, asking what the best computer they had was, then watching my parents debate whether it met the minimum specs or not).  So in terms of me being able to easily lay my hands on resources and throw out links, I can't, though given how often this comes up it might be worth me doing some sort of evaluation so that I can next time.  But if you just google online Python book you will find lots and lots of them.Second, stick to one language.  Don't stick to one learning resource.  After language 3 or so learning new languages is really easy. Until then, you'll get caught up in the details if you try it, and spend more time than you should getting confused because the basics will be just different enough.  In practice, the first programming language you learn will teach you to program in Python, say.  You'll think about all of software in Python, you'll write down your ideas in Python, you'll explain things to other people in Python, etc.  When you learn a second language, you have to learn how to think about programming without thinking about programming in a specific programming language, and that's really, really hard.  Potentially harder than learning to program in the first place.  But then language 3 is a lot easier, and by language 4 or 5 you can pick up new ones in a Saturday.  I used to argue against BGT, and this is one of the reasons why--whatever you learn first, you're stuck with it for a long time until you develop programming-without-a-language thinking. But this doesn't hold true for learning resources.  People are really, really bad at thinking about programming.  It goes against what humans are hard-wired for.  I can say with complete seriousness that if you become a very, very good programmer, it changes who you are, just by making you develop all these thought skills that people in general don't have.  I don't know how long it takes to get to that point, but programming is about learning to take the world apart and put it back together in a fundamentally different way that only programmers think about on a regular basis, where you can literally tell some processed sand and lightning in a box how to do stuff for you.  That sounds poetic.  But the gap is really that big.And so your best bet for learning resources is to find a book, or a really, really good set of tutorials, that speaks to you.  Feel free to jump around all you want, if whatever you're using isn't clicking.  There's tons and tons of them out there, and they all use different analogies, different ways of taking apart the problem, different ways of turning programmer into something someone trying to do it for the first time can understand.  But thee really, really important point is that whatever you find needs to be about both Python and about programming.  It is very easy to find tutorials that explain how loops work in Python which will let you write a program that prints numbers, but that sort of author isn't writing for people who haven't programmed at all, they're writing for people who haven't programmed in Python at all.  That's a big difference.  Whatever you use, it needs to be teaching you how to think about things you want to do and how to translate them to software, not just how the language works.  You either have to get that kind of thing from someone else, which takes weeks, or you figure it out on your own, which takes years of constant practice.  Again, not exaggerating.  The difference between picking this up from someone or something that's teaching you how to put things together versus going to something like W3Schools that shows you all the jigsaw puzzle pieces without showing you the puzzle is actually, literally that much of a difference. So, good luck.  I did it.  You can too.  But it takes a while.  You have to care about it for its own sake if you want to get really good with it, and you have to put significant time in.

That is correct. I learned C, well, the basics of it anyways, after being strongly versed in python. My mistake was me thinking that the book was aimed at the beginners in C, somebody who has programmed before but has not worked with it. Does that make sense? Either way, it didn’t cost me anything.  I just used it as an example for having multiple resources and perspectives.

Well, this whole thing comes down to:I bought the program, and love what it can do. It's fast, flexible, and is very regularly updated and added to. About data collection (and coming from someone who knows nothing about it), I generally follow the argument that it's trading ease of use and convenience for more data on you and a better, more acurate image on you, but it's the only real argument I've seen about this. Also, we're blaming the independent dev for all of this, but has anyone actually went on the group to ask people who know him best what's going on? I don't think they'd lie, because the product isn't popular enough to not feel the consequences, so if they were found lying, they'd have all their users cancel their subscriptions.

I've tried using myMedia, appCake, shew, IPA INstaller Shortcut, iTunes, altStore, you name it. It either revokes itself wich i can fix easily with Cydia Impactor or things don't install propperly. For example, altserver can't find my device, and the link in the article about appCake gives me a AppCake could not be downloaded and installed, please try again later. I couldn't find instructions for shew/myMedia, but if i use the IPA installer shortcut it says that the input app did not give any inPut to the shortcut. Its nothing shortcuts can fix, and to ask the app developer of rmore instructions. The version of iTunes i have, at least on sinwodows, doesn't support installing apps through .ipa files, and i don't have $99 per year for an apple developer account to do it that way. Am i missing something, going to the wrong websites, etc? I've wanted to play audio defence and maybe even try unlocking all the arena's and weapons, but I can't get it to work. Thanks for your help.oh, but i'm not done yet!Valhala the MUD is dead and empty of player life. I've wanted to use VIP MUD to play Valharu, or the rework of Valhala with more players. However, the Valharu option inside of VIP MUD gives me an error when i try to make a new account like bad file name or input, no matter what I type, and what i connect with, if i make myself the built-in carcitor or make it myself. Any tips? Also, if someone has it and can provide a link to a sound pack for the game, can you give it as well? I wanted to get back into this MUD and play it with a friend but, i just can't even play it if i wanted to. I'm not sure if VIP MUD was installed correctly, though. It went into my Program Files Folder, but it didn't put anything in my documents folder, but i'm not sure if thats the reason why it's fucking up how it is. I can connect to Valhala, but not Valharu, and it shows that they have the same connection and ports as each other.

Gulping a few stat-increasers won't utterly wreck you either, especially earlier in life. I can routinely get into the 800-900 stat range, and that's more than enough to take almost any challenge down. I'm less enthusiastic about the bear, though, since most of his attacks are physical and only Bear Cross is amazing...and even there, a 15-second cooldown is major ouch.

Re: Looking for a specific type of game

Actually Caccio, I'd recommend buying the full version asap if your planning to, since pretty much the hole game changes, from what upgrades you can buy, to the way the collossium and vassals work, to the jobs your advisers get, heck I don't even know if savegames are compatible between the free and paid versions. Remember, the free version isn't a short demo in this case that finishes at a certain point or limits time for something to show up, it's literally a past version of the game with less development on literally every aspect of gameplay, from sound, to economics, to exploration, generation of new kingdoms etc.If you go to the warsim topic in the new releases room and check out some of Wastelander's recent development logs for the game, you'll see what I mean.

As far as I know Akai hasn't even made a single statement regarding accessibility features at all.

OK, so this is meant to be a guide there are slight changes but with this I guess you should be able to figure and play something outmelody starts with a small rest, then:a d a, then descend to  e, a d a, then descend to  d a d a, then descend to  e, f# g f# d e repeat exactly thatthen for the other sectiond c# d a, d c# d g f# e d a d d, e and c#, those two  at the same time.your chords are roughlyd/f# g a bm d/f# g a7 and repeatfor the second sectionbm a g d/f# em d/f# g and a7the slash followed by the note is that the bass note of the chord should be that one, so its a d major chord but the bass is in f#.

There are plans of getting the screen reader into the Playstore. For now though it's delayed do to Covid 19. That's the last I remember from the Telegram group.Although you do need the Telegram group to download the latest version (until a proper English site comes out), you can buy Commentary Premium from with n the Help and Support menu. Yes, not everyone uses Pay Pal, and I recommended Cash as an alternative. But yes, for many, if it ain't in the play store, many won't go out their way to grab an app like that, regardless of how good it is.Up To Down is a fantastic option (which is similar to the playstore as in its interface) and can replace the Play Store a the system level if ya don't like it.That would be the best alternative App store, if anywhere else.Just like with HUAWEI  phones these days and Windows Mobile phones back in the day, if Google ain't there, folks won't use it!

The bear I have has most of its stats in the mid 200's, so I can probably get up to 800 onmost stats. I've only managed to get into the low 900's on one stat on one monster, and that was by overusing the training supplements as well as doing competition after competition. The megaprotons aren't instantly fatal, only the supplements seem to have serious negative effects.

Re: Audio game jam - No Video Jam starts August 14

I'll be happy to provide high quality legal sound effects and music resources and do some collecting and editing of them too, time permitting.I can also help test games, I have a Windows 10 laptop with mid range specs made within the last 5 years, and I can use NVDA, JAWS, or Narrator for screen reader related testing.I've tested for AHC and Park Boss in the past, and contributed lots of bug reports to public projects like The Vale and Warsim, and I've played most of the well known audio games, starting at the age of 7.I'm willing to work with any team who can communicate effectively and seems dedicated to completing the jam.You can reach me atsuperfr...@gmail.comand I can give you contact details for voice and text chat if we both seem interested.

Re: youtube live chat?

Just did a proof of concept on this on a random live stream of some randomer playing fortnight. I was able to get it reading out all the live chat messages, with the minor caveat that it would also read out the phrase "comment actions", which I'm guessing is a link or something that appears after people's messages. To do it takes some familiarity with the developer tools though, and unfortunately I can't just give you some _javascript_ to do this as I'd intended, since for some reason getting hold of the chat messages box using _javascript_ returns null, somehow it's prevented from working. Unless I'm doing something wrongBut to do it in Firefox, you can right click/applications key on the messages area, prefereably if there are messages already in it, then go to inspect element. then, you'll be in a tree structure. you'll want to go up (as in left arrow), until you get to a div with the ID of items. I then right clicked that, went into the attributes submenu, then add, then put in the text role="log" and hit enter. From that point, the messages were read out to me.Not as pretty as I'd have liked, apologies I can't give you anything better

Jeez Louise! I'm not sure why that could be. I've just repackaged the whole installer again with a couple of small tweaks that COULD be causing it. It seems to work fine here and on two test computers. Could you please try the new file labelled 1.522 on the itch.io page.I'm really really sorry about this, I will sort you out with a free code for the Android version as an apology.Edit: I have private messaged you the code

Re: Looking for a specific type of game

I agree with Dark.  I really wish that the demo was more up to date, and few people really give the game a proper look before making videos about it.I would estimate that the free version contains around 20% of the content that the paid version does, and the systems that are the same between them are nearly all improved significantly in that version as well.

@ExistenceEngine:I'm a big fan of RPGs; the more immersive, the better. Games I've always wanted to play, like Baldur's Gate, are the kind of RPGS I want to play. Check out A Hero's Call for an audiogame example; that's one of my favorite games as far as audiogames go.

I can get behind a company when a company is ready and willing to show it's going to get behind its users.  That's who I am and how I work.  That is also why I made post 33 and still stick to it.  People can be a problem, but no professional company goes under just because it is not initially well received, or else I'd have no job right now.

No...it is not all that difficult to get into the 700 range. 800 is tricky. 900 is much harder, but not impossible. Trust me on this. I have raised over a dozen monsters into that range and have pretty much opened up everything this game has to offer. Here's a big tip. You know all the food recommendations you're given? Ignore about half of them. If it doesn't raise stats, don't eat it.

Question on training manuals.  From what I understand, they are supposed to unlock extra skill upgrades.  I found the first training manual, but nothing additional was unlocked, and when I press right arrow on upgrades, I still get the message, "locked upgrade branch."  The first one is supposed to unlock crafting related things.  But it doesn't seem to have worked, unless there's something else I need to do once I have it?  I tried reading it, but that didn't work.

Re: Jaidon Of the Caribbean has 666 posts help

That's just it though, I'm not trying to copy and I don't envy Dark in the slightest.  He's his own person; I'm my own person.  To be Dark I'd have to be Dark, and I'm not Dark, and I don't want to be Dark.  I mean, I don't really want to be Nocturnus either under many circumstances, but that's who I turn out to be.  There was that day when I fed the trolls pineapple pizza and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I got away, but I promise you while that was going down I was absolutely not wanting to be me.Perhaps if such an occasion should arise again I'll try being darkturnus for a season to see how that plays out to my advantage, but then all the dark corporations will be after my tail concerned with copyright infringement bla bla bla because I don't sound like a brit and I sound too much like a yank even though I'm honestly not either and tons of biscuits and gravy and yorkshire puddings and crumpets and cookies and tacos and tortilla chips and hotdogs and beans and rice and scones and steak and kidney pies may be devoured before we settle the legality issues, and then we'll be getting into why those legality issues weren't properly settled owing to international jurisdiction and who really won this and that war and before long we're talking about building walls and how bridges in big cities are bad things and huge towers and skyscrapers are simply signs of power flexing and... I think I've painted a good enough picture of how history works?  so yeah, that's what would happen if we had a darkturnus.  History would more or less be rewritten with the same stupid nonsense.Oh, and if you're wondering what you stepped into, please read post 52, where in I talk about how Nocturnus has been accused of being Dark.  I'm me and he's him, and I'm copyrighting myself right here, right now.  “It’s mine, I tell you, mine! All mine! You can’t have it because it’s mine! You can read it (please); you can quote it (thanks); but I still own it because it’s mine! I own it and you don’t. Nya-nya-nya. So there.  Ok, no, that's not really mine.
