RE: CF MX 6.1 - zipping files
If CF is on a Windows box and you have access to cfexecute, Windows servers come with a built in command line version of Zip. If you can get to a command prompt just type zip /? And you should get the available commands. Then cfexecute what you need to. I have seen the AS400/DB2 connection go down for many reasons, and they were never the fault of CF. Chances are that you switch to .Net and you could have the exact same problems. If you mean can you write CFML code, save the file as .php, and have CF execute it, then yes you can. Well, I don't know of any code that runs for 27 seconds here and I've been working on this all day, so I'm going to with 1.5 seconds is actual execution time :) Another thing I've noticed is this kind of output... Total | Avg. |Times | Template == 16 ms | 0 ms | 91 | C:\_EP\...\...\... The math just doesn't add up. If the average exection time is 0 ms then how is the total 16 ms? Re: CF MX Quiet Install Procedures
Graham, Frankly, I can't recall if that silent install procedure will add the ODBC services or not, but I can tell you that if the reason you want to install them is so that you can connect to MS Access, then you can actually just use the Microsoft Access with Unicode driver from the drop down list which does not require the extra ODBC services at all. The MS Access/Unicode driver, a.k.a. Jadazoom, is type IV JDBC and connects directly to MS Access. For all other databases, use the appropriate JDBC driver from the list, which again does not require the ODBC services. -Steven Erat On 7/23/05, Graham Pearson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I am teaching a Coldfusion Class next week and have been trying to create a CD that will install Coldfusion in Quiet mode with a default administrator password and every time I perform this, the ODBC Services do not get installed like they would when I do a manual prompted install. CF sometimes gets a little weird with templates that once existed, but no longer exist. This is by design if you have the template cache enabled, but it can happen even with it off. Clear your cfclasses directory (inside WEB-INF) and restart and it'll probably go away. cheers, barneyb On 7/8/05, Dave Nixon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Can anyone explain below why you get a SQL query error for a page that is possibly missing??? RE: CF MX 7 stopping IIS 5.0 service
Installation support is free from what I understand. Obviously I don't call our support much. You do need to back up your CFMX 7 CFIDE directory before uninstalling CFMX 6/6.1. We would have to 'fix' the CFMX 6 installer, which we can't do. The installation was an upgrade from MX 6.1. Everything seems to be running smoothly, except for one thing: after about 10-15 minutes CFMX 7 will kill IIS 5.0. I then will go into the services and re-start IIS and things will appear fine for a little while, then I'll go back a little later and IIS will be shut down again. I checked my Event Log and noticed the following: Event Type: Error Event Source: ColdFusion MX Application Server Event Category: None Event ID: 263 Description: The ColdFusion MX Application Server service killed process with pid 704. I wondered if anybody had any thoughts about this. Another thing I've noticed is that installing CFMX 7 does not seem to have gotten rid of CFMX 6.1. In my services panel, I still have two sets of services, one for 6.1 and one for 7. I've gone ahead and disabled the 6.1 services, but wondered if it was normal that both would appear there. That's because 6.1 had no knowledge of 7 and uninstalled the admin. Huh? As I understand it CF 7 can co-exist with a 6.1 install. From that I assumed they each used their own CF admin? but perhaps not? I guess because of my setup (both pointed to the same webroot on another drive) I screwed myself. RE: CF MX and CF 5 accessing the same client database storage for one big application.
But I use variables within the clientdb that tells me if the user is logged in and what permissions they have. Plus keep track of how long they've been idle, so we can log them off, but not lose any of the data they were working on. Unfortunately, there aren't any especially good solutions for your problem that I can see. I think I would avoid client variables entirely in your case, and just write code that uses a common database of your own design and stores appropriate data within the Session scope. RE: CF MX Performance Hit -- Amy I the first to notice? QoQ
Not knowing what your query is doing and also not knowing what the original query result set is and its properties makes this a difficult question to answer. Both of the links you provided seem to generate on html output so I can't see any debug info but what I will say is that they both took around 2 seconds to complete. I believe that the QofQ code has had extensive work done on it for MX7 and that it derives its types for the column data in a different way from that in MX 6.x. This in itself is a good thing although I would guess that it introduces an overhead because of the extra data scanning that must be done to ensure a good datatype fit on a per column basis... It would follow that the overhead will increase with the size of your original recordset but at the moment all of this is conjecture on my part because of a lack of detail regarding the question and the internals of the new QoQ code... Those times look like overheads to me... Out of interest, how big is your original dataset? Do these times differ significantly if the size of the result set changes? How wide is the result set and how many rows does it have in general? The next thing to ask is Is there a good solid reason why you need so many QoQ's in a single execution? Can you not do the same work using the underlying DBs SQL. What DB are you running against? What exactly are the QoQ's doing? Johnny 5 needs more input! Re: CF MX 6.1 + Linux + Verity = Trouble???
We are successfully using Verity on RH 2.1AS. (More info below). I've read various contradictions on this list and via Macromedia's website about support for Verity under Red Hat Linux. Here's what I need to do: 1. Index recursive collection of files - two seperate collections for two seperate directories. I developed a java spidering routine that collects links to be indexed then we cfhttp to get the pages and strip out the tags and put the resulting text into a database table. We then use the table to create the index. 2. Index the small, but soon to grow PDF files. The version of Verity that comes with MX will index PDFs up to a certain version of PDF but not the most recent stuff. We use a product called 'pdftotext' that is part of the xpdf product from http://www.foolabs.com/xpdf/home.html. We get the text from the pdf and then put it into the table that we use for indexing. I tried #1, and Verity created a 500k log sysinfo.log file full of complaints. As for the PDF part anyone using Red Hat and Verity to successfully index their PDFs? I've created a database generated collection with this configuration and it works fine. Thus the confusion when coupled with contradicting messages out here. -paris lundis Sent via the WebMail system at areaindex.com ~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Silver Sponsor - CFDynamics http://www.cfdynamics.com Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:4:187989 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/4 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:4 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.4 Donations Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54

RE: CF MX Problem
I am wondering if there could be some difference between the way CF MX and CF MX 6.1 function that could be preventing the creating of PDF documents? It will take some doing to get the actual CF server install disk (which appears to be my only way to upgrade to CF MX 6.1) and I would rather avoid the hassle if I do not have to go through it. Yes, I believe that CFMX 6.1 comes with a newer version of JIntegra, which is the COM library used by CFMX. I wouldn't be surprised if some things no longer work correctly, although I don't know about ActivePDF specifically. In addition, there may conceivably be some permissions issues, although I suspect this isn't your problem. Perhaps, though, the previous install of CFMX 6.0 ran as a user with rights to those COM objects, and CFMX 6.1 is running as a different user. It would probably also be useful to find exactly where the error occurs. Re: CF MX Problem
It would simplify troubleshooting if you run the 6.1 updater. It's free right? Then you could compare the 2 instances of CF a little better. Greg - Original Message - From: Dave Watts [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Thu, 9 Sep 2004 16:41:09 -0400 Subject: RE: CF MX Problem To: CF-Talk [EMAIL PROTECTED] I am wondering if there could be some difference between the way CF MX and CF MX 6.1 function that could be preventing the creating of PDF documents? It will take some doing to get the actual CF server install disk (which appears to be my only way to upgrade to CF MX 6.1) and I would rather avoid the hassle if I do not have to go through it. Yes, I believe that CFMX 6.1 comes with a newer version of JIntegra, which is the COM library used by CFMX. I wouldn't be surprised if some things no longer work correctly, although I don't know about ActivePDF specifically. In addition, there may conceivably be some permissions issues, although I suspect this isn't your problem. Re: cf mx and oracle 8i
Steff, You need to use to_date as this is used by Oracle to convert your date from a string into the correct format. Have you tried the re-ordering I suggested? to_date('19/07/2004', 'dd/mm/') Cheers Simon On Tue, 20 Jul 2004 10:20:05 +0200, Steff [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I try and I obtain ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes Can you help me? thanks steff -Message d'origine- De : Micha Schopman [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Envoy : Tuesday, July 20, 2004 10:06 AM : CF-Talk Objet : RE: cf mx and oracle 8i Try using createODBCDateTime() to specify a dateobject, instead of to_date() Micha Schopman Software Engineer Modern Media, Databankweg 12 M, 3821 ALAmersfoort Tel 033-4535377, Fax 033-4535388 KvK Amersfoort 39081679, Rabo 39.48.05.380 [Todays Threads] [This Message] [Subscription] [Fast Unsubscribe] [User Settings] [Donations and Support]

We need more info from you, we can only guess at the moment -Is the datetime value you are inserting between the boundaries of the datetime type you have set with Oracle? (small datetime, large datetime, etc) - On which column does the error occur (take away cols, add cols, to your command) - What happens when you use createODBCDate() - What happens if you insert NULL values - Does the error occur on the datetime part? Etc.. RE: cf mx and oracle 8i
I think where is the problem, I get date values with a query. The table valueis like 19-JUL-04. Coldfusion gives me a date like '2004-07-19 00:00:00.0' to_date can't convert. RE: cf mx and oracle 8i
Well you can create a new date object using CreateDateTime, CreateODBCDateTime, after stripping out the wanted values with Left, Right and Mid. So for DD-MM- you could do cfset datevar = 20-07-2004 cfset tmp = createODBCDate(createDate(ListGetAt(datevar,3,-), ListGetAt(datevar,2,-), ListGetAt(datevar,1,-))) Micha Schopman Software Engineer Modern Media, Databankweg 12 M, 3821 ALAmersfoort Tel 033-4535377, Fax 033-4535388 KvK Amersfoort 39081679, Rabo 39.48.05.380 [Todays Threads] [This Message] [Subscription] [Fast Unsubscribe] [User Settings] [Donations and Support]

RE: CF MX 6.1 ODBC problems?
We are running MX 6.1.MX seems to run fine, but about every 8 - 12 hours it crashes. Our site will come back with a coldfusion datasource error after a while. The datasource can connect to the database no problem even while the error is occuring. The only way to fix it is to restart the mx services. I should also mention we are runnning in distributed mode, although I don't believe it would matter. We are also using MS SQL for the database.Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thanks. As Joe Eugene mentioned, you'll probably want to use JDBC drivers instead of ODBC drivers. If you choose to use the Macromedia JDBC drivers, you'll want to download the latest version - it fixes a lot of serious problems: http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/ts/documents/cfmx61_sqlserver_c pu.htm (installation instructions) http://download.macromedia.com/pub/coldfusion/drivers/3.3/macromedia_drivers .zip (direct link to drivers) Some of our clients have been very happy using the MS JDBC drivers instead. Microsoft JDBC driver for SQL Server 2000: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9f1874b6-f8e1-4bd6- 947c-0fc5bf05bf71DisplayLang=en I would strongly recommend that anyone using CFMX 6.1 with SQL Server 2000 use one of these two drivers, instead of ODBC or the JDBC driver that comes with CFMX 6.1. RE: CF MX/Linux/Apache/Cookie madness
We have a prod server setup as follows: -Linux RedHat 9.1 -Apache -CF MX 6.1 Standard Intermittently we are having the contents of various cookies spit out to the screen (and that screen does not display as intended). The cookies hold queries (some empty and some with 1 record per cookie) which have been serialized into WDDX packets (so they can be used as cookie values). I'm still pretty new to a Linux/Apache setup and am wondering if mabye header info is the culprit?? Here's some header related info that was spit out along with the cookie values: location: public.cfm?pg=reg_2 Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Age: 1 Connection: close Via: HTTP/1.1 ntl_site (Traffic-Server/5.2.4 [cMs f ]) It looks to me like you have some sort of proxy in between, which is screwing up your HTTP response header and body data. Thomas asked: Are you using cfheader or something ?
