Then, there's gas prices -- about $2.50 a gallon for regular in San
Francisco. Bush has been in power for four years now, and we're
supposed to be taking over Iraq, so why are gas prices climbing so fast?
Ok, this is pretty dispassionate--1. California's (and other
non-conforming areas) speciality fuels are always going to cost more-blame
the EPA and the Clean Air Act and your local government. The most
expensive gas here (central Arkansas) is $2.16 for 93 octane & you can find
87 octane for as little as $1.73. 2. Nigeria-I don't think any American
had anything to do with the mess there. 3. Hurricanes & tropical storms-3
of them in the Gulf. Disrupted the output of the rigs, and the pipelines
will need repairs. Any supply interruptions are going to drive the price
up, and when you have 3 or 4 at once, the markets really skyrocket. When
(and if) the supply lines begin to fill up again we will see a drop in
prices. Check your history, this has been happening for years.

I hope this was OK with ya'll.

I share your feelings about getting into impossible-to-resolve
political harangues, especially when people take the opportunity to
throw in their fears of same-sex marriage, etc.

However, some car issues are inevitably political. Eg, I've got to
get my car smogged this year and it's going to cost me about $80 for
starters, just to have it tested at a special "test-only" station.
Then, there's gas prices -- about $2.50 a gallon for regular in San
Francisco. Bush has been in power for four years now, and we're
supposed to be taking over Iraq, so why are gas prices climbing so fast?

Of course, it would be nice if any opinions on these car-related
facts of life could be presented objectively and dispassionately,
without getting into one's personal feelings about religion, sex,
machismo, etc.

Well this is related to our hobby. I know many people think that Bush is in the
Saudi's pockets and willing to let gas go higher and higher, but I wanted to point out
a fact that can be verified through congressional records. John Kerry has voted to
raise taxes on gas 11 times. This includes the 50 cent per gallon tax voted for in
Febuary or March of 1994.

I also think that everyone should turn the spin off and vote for whoever they want
after picking the topics that are important to them and then spending a while
conducting research on facts rather than watching slanted news/ comentary/
documentaries/ concerts/ or movies. I don't think any choice will be perfect, but
there is a good arguement that this election will have a lasting impact on the future
of our country and our hobby. The winner of this election will be appointing judges
at various levels and making important decisions regarding every aspect of our lives
(including jobs, pay, insurance, healthcare, social welfare- and who is going to pay
for it). I pray that the best man wins and I can continue enjoying life with my
family and my Chevelle without the fear of terror or anything else that restricts my
way of life.

Please cut the negativity and vote responsibly.

If our reason for being in Iraq is not to find weapons of mass

not to get control of the oil fields, but to "introduce democracy to

Funny how before we went into Iraq, everyone was saying Saddam would nuke
our troops or fire chemical weapons at them. Oh the doomsayers. Now, when
apparently no WMD have been unearthed, Bush is a jerk. I imagine Bush the
elder was a jerk for waiting until Saddam invaded Kuwait too.

A lot of UN officials and UN member countries were getting rich off the
*sanctions* on Iraq due to black market and kickbacks.

I'm not enthused with the war, I don't think anybody in their right mind is.
After bringing down troop levels AGAIN after the Gulf War and with no peace
strategy, it's been a mess.

Received this the other day from my new daughter-in-law:

>>>
A speech that should be delivered
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR GEORGE W. BUSH OR JOHN KERRY
GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans:
As you all know, the defeat of Iraq regime has been completed. Since
congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in
Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces
from Iraq. This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now to begin
the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which
have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The
United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, and Poland are some of the
countries listed there.

The other list contains everyone not on the first list. Most of the world's
nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of
both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those
nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved
during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraq
war.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world
Hell-holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France.

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money
toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home.

On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Fool with us and we will
hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the
earth. Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France, or may be
China.

To Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Yo, boys. Work out a peace deal
now. Just note that Camp David is closed. Maybe all of you can go to Russia
for negotiations. They have some great palaces there. Big tables, too. I am
ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France,
Germany, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring
from NATO as well. Bon chance, mes amis.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN
diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking
tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and
crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps
have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or
watch your precious Benzes, Bimmers, and limos be turned over to some of the
finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to
be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not making
us mad for a change. Mexico is also on List 2. President Fox and his entire
corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple
extra tank and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to
put em? Yep, border security.

So start doing something with your oil. Oh, by the way, the United States is
abrogating the NAFTA treaty ---starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens.
Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, "darn-tootin."

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world
has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet.
It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate
homelessness in America. It is time to eliminate World Cup Soccer from
America.

To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thanks guys. We owe you and we
won't forget.

God bless America.
Thank you and good night.

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what, when, or where he said it. He'll have
a different stand at the next place and time
The only thing he's stuck with consistently is that he wants a bigger more
expensive govt to suck away our rights and money.

RE: [Chevelle-list] heat = smoke (69 El Camino)

2004-10-23 Thread John Nasta

Thanks everybody
who replied. I have been so swamped that I haven’t had time to write back. I do
think it's steam from the heater core. It was a chilly, rainy night when I noticed
it. I had used the defroster a week earlier and was surprised at how it didn't
seem to clear the windshield very well. It probably was throwing more moisture
onto it. that night was not cold or rainy but the windshield had condensation
on it from sitting all day with the windows closed. I will try it again on a
less damp occasion and see if it still appears to be "smoke". I don’t
think it was electrical because there was no smell of plastic and also because
there is no electrical connection involved in opening or closing the heat flapper
door. Also, the "smoke" was coming out of the vents.

Does
anybody know the procedure off-hand for changing the heater core? Should I also
replace the blower motor while I'm at it? Right now I don't even know if the motor
is just not hooked up or if it's totally dead. There are 2 wires on my front
harness that I never did figure out what they are for.

Thanks,

John Nasta

Probly
should have the heater core checked. The situation sounds familiar. When me and
my brother were leaving school in the 1990 Caprice that my parents used to own
he put on the heat. It was the middle of winter. He noticed stuff, almost like
snow, coming out of the vents. It left a film on the window. Turned out that
the heater core was cracked. Think you might want to have it looked at.

This is a Chevelle list. This is the one place that I have not had politics
"in my face" over the last few months. Please post your opinions/comments
elsewhere.

Some people will believe anything just because it is written in a newspaper.
It's a shame so many Americans are unwilling to think for themselves. We
will all be in a sorry state if Kerry is elected. Would you like for your
son to marry another man? He would not only be able to, but would also be
encouraged to by the laws the Dems will push for. Nuff said

hey john i wish would keep opinion to yourself and file this under bull
shit,
because that's what it is bull, bush is a drunk a war monger and a greedy
oil miser, this man should be tar and feathered right out of the white
house,
Kerry fought for this nation when bush sat on his drunk ass and would not
bother
to show up for the guards, his daddy save his butt, then and now pull his
strings. bush has killed more innocent people then bin laden did, in the
name of
what i don't know, more then likely its the oil, he couldn't drill the in
Alaska so he went and made up all this bullshit, just so he could steal the
Iraq's people oil, if you would read between the lines and see what is
really
going on then you would not waste my time responding to this letter, if
bush
steal this election like he did before this nation will be crushed by our
enemies,
there only one reason why we haven't been attack, because they seen how the
country rally behind bush, after the last hit and they don't want bush in
the
white anymore then i do, bush let the entire bin laden family fly home
after
the 911 hit, when there wasn't a plane in the sky that family had
permission
from bush to leave without being question one bit that alone proves he is
in bed
with the Saudi family, and by the way 19 of the hijackers where from Saudi
Arabia, IM tired of typing, I can bash bush all night but this is hardly
the
place, so sorry to all the other people who gets this list, and to you
