RE: Exchange 2007 Meeting Room resources
What I anticipated is that the meetings that I imported over would have the properties of the Meeting Room applied. So that all the reoccurring meetings would end after the 180 days (4/23/2012.). This is not the case. All the reoccurring meetings have no end date and this will cause lots of problems! From: Michael B. RE: Exchange 2007 Meeting Room resources
I believe the problem is that the meetings you book through Outlook will have the policy applied, but if you copy/paste from a public folder, the auto-accept agent doesn't do any processing to make sure it's allowed. We made all our users book recurring meetings again. RE: Exchange 2007 Meeting Room resources
Is there a way around this? What I did was save the public folder meeting room as an .ics file and then create the meeting room and login to the meeting room and import all the meetings. Ideally I would like to be able to apply the mailbox properties to the existing or imported meetings. Exchange 2007 Meeting room resources
Hi Folks, Just a quick couple of questions about Meeting Room resources Exchange 2007 SP3 Outlook 2007SP3\Outlook 2010 * Can you specify that a specific group of users can over write existing booking in a meeting room? * When a user leaves is there any way that the meetings that this user created can be flagged or triggered so that the Exchange Admin can delete or action the meeting? * By default the reoccurring meeting has a maximum of 180 days - what happens then to all the reoccurring meetings? Do they just end. Can this be flagged so that the organizer has the option of re-creating the reoccurring meeting? Meeting room resources and user leaves
Hi, Exchange 2007 Sp1 - Outlook 2007 Sp2 I have this setup in a test environment before I go live and have noticed the following - User A creates a meeting and books Room A as resource. If I delete User A from both AD and the mailbox the meeting still exists in the Meeting Resource. Is this correct? Secondly - Is there any way to sort out the column when you add all the meeting rooms? Ideally I would like to sort the Location column. Do such resources exist?
Are there any companies that specialize in supporting Exchange in the following manner: Our in-house Exchange is down, we need an Exchange expert in here within an hour to help us fix it. I work for an SMB of about 400 employees and we have clustered Exchange 2007 and I have been tasked to look at outsourcing options to meet some business requirements, and I was thinking if there was a company that specialized in Exchange DR that might meet our needs instead of outsourcing. If it matters I am in the Portland, Oregon area. David Lum // SYSTEMS ENGINEER NORTHWEST EVALUATION ASSOCIATION (Desk) 971.222.1025 // (Cell) 503.267.9764
RE: Do such resources exist?
Well, sure. There are consulting companies that offer emergency service, as well as independents such as myself. Typically speaking, you are best suited having a relationship with someone first (so that they have some idea about your configuration and that you have a level of trust with them). While it is certainly possible to swoop in and save the day, that level of pressure isn't any fun on either side of the fence. It's very rare these days that onsite is required. I've got clients all over North America and a few in the UK. I've physically met few of them, but have a good relationship with all of them. Regards, Michael B. Dell ProSupport has a handful of wonderful Exchange Experts that have always helped me out in the past. I have been very impressed how the jump onto your case. They can get MS Support on the phone for free too. Dell may not be your vendor, but you want to check with whomever you vendor is. Terminated users...calendars and resources..ugh
How are you guys taking care of terminated employee's calendars? We have the same problem occasionally. One of these days, I'm going to get time to sit down with that ews.dll that ships with E2010 and script going through the user's calendar and cancelling all their outstanding meetings and appointments, and make running that part of the termination procedure. Troubleshooting Exchange Mail Transaction Resources
Hey Guys, Im primarily a Cisco Engineer and have had very little exposure to Exchange. Our exchange techie has just left the business and so someone has to deal with the exchange server problems. We are having some problems with Exchange 2003 Servers (4 or 5 seperate issues, involving 3 or 4 servers) sending/receiving mail. The issues are things like one server is dropping the odd message or two (no spam protection), one server is intermittantly sending mail and being flagged as spam, another server is receiving the mail (shown in transact logs) but its not showing up in the mailbox. I understand that everyone here has better things to do then try and teach a Cisco Engineer how to troubleshoot, diagnose and then fix these problems, so what I'm looking for is a good guide on troubleshooting exchange related issues (to do with mail transactions, like sending from one server to another and things like that). I have had a flick through an SBS book, that has very basic exchange stuff and a MS book about Exchange 2003, but they dont give a lot about troubleshooting. Does anyone have a good guide or can scribble down some quick notes on how to troubleshoot? (Like the 'telnet localhost 25' and then try and send mail like that, kind of trick). RE: Troubleshooting Exchange Mail Transaction Resources
Whoa. Dan there are lots of books available for Exchange 2003, but a strict troubleshooting book might not be the biggest help if you don't understand how things are moving under the hood (if you gave me a troubleshooting IOS book, I would give you the finger). I recommend a more complete book, probably by an MVP with experience working on 100s of different environments (and issues). I don't know if any of our list MVPs have one, but a quick amazon search shows some from the likes of Paul Robichaux and Jim McBee, both excellent resources I have stolen ideas and tips from. If you have an immediate need, I would recommend a call to Microsoft Support. Messaging support is on a call-back basis now, but dealing with someone who really knows the product and is working with you over the phone will make huge improvements to your knowledge in a short amount of time. I will always remember when I first arrived at my current job and someone told me to get the SQL2000 reporting services box working (which had been missing reports for some time and was an application I had never seen before). MS support walked me through the troubleshooting and entertained TONS of questions about the product and accompanying services. They are generally worth the scratch if you are in a pinch. Hope that helps, -troy -Original Message- From: Daniel Hood [mailto:dsmh...@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, March 05, 2009 4:29 PM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: Troubleshooting Exchange Mail Transaction Resources Hey Guys, Im primarily a Cisco Engineer and have had very little exposure to Exchange. Exchange 2007 Resources
We have a conference room setup as a resource. Currently, only four people are allowed to make modifications to the calendar. This works perfectly if you 1. Open a new appointment. 2. Go to the Scheduling Tab. 3. Select Add Others From Address Book. 4. Select RESOURCES. Anybody that is not one of the chosen four can NOT create an appointment on the calendar. The problem is, if you change step 4. above and put the attendee in the REQUIRED field instead of Resources, it bypasses the permissions restrictions and lets anybody book an appointment on the calendar. Is there any way to stop this? We are using Outlook 2003. Thanks! Rob ~ Ninja Email Security with Cloudmark Spam Engine Gets Image Spam ~ ~ http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Ninja~
RE: Exchange 2007 Resources
It sounds like you're using the Auto Accept scripts. You should be able to restrict who can schedule the resource through the script by limiting who can send email to the resource. hi all, it's migration time again . ok, i need to migrate 90 odd mailboxes and public folder resources from an exchange 5.5 server in Site A to an exchange 5.5 server in Site B (that exists in a different organisation and domain). is this possible? if so, what is the 'cleanest' way to proceed. cheers - n List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm

I hope one of you mavens out there can answer this question. I am running Exchange 5.5 (SP4) with OWA. When I open the administrator console and look at the Private Information Store-Mailbox resources, I see mailboxes with items in them, but when I try to retrieve the mail in those mailboxes (either through OWA or standard POP), the mailboxes appear to be empty. RE: MS Outlook-Out of System Resources
This happens if the file name is to long. It seems to happen when someone is getting a file off a fileserver that is very deep in multiple layers of folders. I think (but do not know for sure) that there is a 256 character limit and those folder names are counted when going for an attachment. ellery july phone - 651-225-3895 -Original Message- From: Danielle Roper [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, January 28, 2002 11:28 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: MS Outlook-Out of System Resources I have had a couple users get the following message when trying to attach a file using Outlooks attachment icon. RE: MS Outlook-Out of System Resources
Not to be a pain, but the info about the e-mail editor is different than what you provided. Composing in Rich Text Format is different than what is being used to do that composing. Can't remember off the top of my head on OL98, but take a look maybe under Tools, Options - it's either in there as a menu option that gets checked - Use Word as E-mail Editor, or it's in the Options under Mail Format. Well can they attach to the file if it is moved up a level or two? Not to be grumpy which I am today - how do you know it is less the 256. Are you starting from the outlook file and counting all the spaces through the server through the various folders. Just because you map a drive odes not mean the program is no longer counting the actual direction to get to the file. ellery july phone - 651-225-3895 -Original Message- From: Danielle Roper [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, January 29, 2002 11:05 AM To: MS-Exchange Admin Issues Subject: RE: MS Outlook-Out of System Resources The file names being used to be attached are much less than 256 characters... Mailbox Resources, but no recipients
bad_Haiku I have problem, no? Resources; recipients should they be equal? /bad_Haiku I moved a bunch of mailboxes from what is, now, our IMC only server, but there are still mailbox resources left behind. Q284199 talks about running DS/IS consistency adjuster for orphaned resources, but only if ADSI/LDAP was used to delete the mailboxes. ADSI/LDAP was not used and the boxes were moved not deleted. RE: Mailbox Resources, but no recipients
Between 2 weeks and 3 months. Most of them (1000+) moved without problems, but a few (37) are hanging in there. They are also in the new server, so it would seem that they're orphaned on the old server. How long has it been since you moved the mailboxes? The information store and the directory don't match up immediately.
