I might be there with my friend who will be signing her
immensely popular book, Clifford of Drummond Island, a nice
group of stories about Drummond Island MI and her Morgan
Horse (he may or may not be there...I have to convince her
to trailer him 'that far!'). She is being sponsored by The
American Morgan Horse Association.
So come on by and meet me! I'd bring Finne but he's in the
middle of beginning dressage training and I need his brain
right now. When we went to the Novi Horse Expo he was
spoiled rotten by all the treat givers! May have a few of my
fjord tiles and new ceramic pins and earrings there.
Suppose that answers another question about fjords in
dressage.
Going to see the Eric Herbermann clinic in a few weeks in
Chelsea MI. Should be nice to meet him, too. My trainer went
to some of his clinics and will also be in this one.

Norwegian book on Horse Drawn Carriages

2002-03-24 Thread Jean Ernest
This message is from: Jean Ernest [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Well, I just received a beautiful book on Norwegian Horse Drawn Carriages
and sleighs: HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGES by Svein Magne Olsen. It is a gorgeous
book with tons of pictures, photos etc. (and lots of Fjordhorses) and it
has been TRANSLATED into English!

I had read about the book on the CD-L (or was it the RED list?)in an e-mail
by Dr. Hans Out:
On another note, a book about Norwegian carriages, carts sleighs and farm
and logging gear has just come out. It's the only book of it's kind
published here and is very well researched. Over 700 pictures and the text
is Norwegian on one side and an English translation on the other. Should be
on the shelf of all you Fjord people.

So I asked him how to get it and he gave me the email of Tove Lende
[EMAIL PROTECTED] and I simply sent an email and said I would like
to get this book and gave my address. Lo and behold here it came in the
mail! (Actually air freight)

Now the problem: There was an invoice with the book..Aaahh, It wasn't free
after all! The cost is NKr448, + postage NKr75, = NKr523, Which I found out
was about $60 in US dollars. And I am supposed to pay to a certain bank in
Norway. How do I do this? Catherine Lassesen can you tell me what to do?
Or anybody else? Can I pay with a credit card somehow? Send a check in US
Dollars? I would appreciate some help here!

Anyway, the book is worth it. It is fascinating and a beautiful coffee
table book as well.

Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska where all of March has been one gorgeous sunny
day after another with temps in the mid to upper 30's. Pity all you folks
in the Northwest and Midwest with all your snow and cold.

Hello Mary,
I am also a lurker and I learn a lot from this list. I am not usually
bold enough to say anything. We are moving from California to Granville,
Ohio the first week of April. I was excited to see that there is such an
event in Columbus. In all of our confusion we will try to get there. We
have a Fjord who we think is very special. We will be boarding her in
Pataskala while we get settled and we will be looking for fjord friends. It
would be fun to meet you sometime.

What a hoot. He has to be the fastest yet. We will have to find some way of
getting photage of that speed.

Nice story Patti of your trip to Germany. I have loved the few German fjords
that I have seen. Cruizers Dam was from Germany and she has lovely movement
1/2 the reason I choose Cruiz Hastein from Norway was the other half.
What part of Germany are all these fjords hiding in? We have many visiters
from Germany that have never seen one before.
March has been the harshest part of winter for us. I think it is over now,
yesterday was beautiful.
Still waiting for freya to foal. It gets hard to sleep.always up and
checking, had to resort to valariean root. yuk.
She has to foal this morning.

Hello all -

I'm a lurker on the list. I have no horses, although I'd really like to have

Lurking is teaching me lots - so thank you all.

My question is: Will fjords be represented at the Equine Affaire in Columbus

Thanks for your responses. I hope some of you will be there; I'd like to
meet some fjord folks in person.

A Fjord and rider in April 2002 Dressage Today!!

2002-03-24 Thread mhd/gcc
This message is from: mhd/gcc [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi All,

I'd love to know who the Fjord mare and her rider are on page 39 in The
Clinic column in the April 2002 Dressage Today! Not often I open that
magazine to see a Fjord, that's for sure! In her critique of this person's
ride, the judge, Maryal Barnett, said she has a special place in my heart for
Norwegian Fjords. How could you not?? One of Ms Barnett's other regular
clinic lesson students is training a Fjord to Third and Fourth Level. If
anyone knows who that is, I'd love to know that, too. Gives me hope and
inspiration for my 6 year old gelding!! Thanks in advance for the information!
Best regards, Melissa Dowling

Troyer Auction - Colorado

2002-03-24 Thread SorgerJ
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I will be going to the Troyer Draft Horse and Equipment auction the 5 6 of
April and I was both surprised and dismayed to see at least 8 fjords that
will be auctioned. Their flyer says there will be 250 horses to be auctioned,
and only shows about 50 of the total and it lists 8 fjords so there will
probably be more.

We, my husband and I, are taking an antique wagon to be auctioned. I have
never been to an auction before and so am looking forward to Friday and the
wagons, carriages and farm equipment. I don't think I will be able to stay
long for the horse auction on Saturday as I will want to buy every horse that
comes up for auction and take them home and keep them safe.

We will get a chance to see Keswick (now a gelding as of yesterday) and Beth
and Sandy at Starfire Farm as they are not to far north of the fair grounds
where the auction will be held. Kez will be 11 months old the weekend we are
there, it is so hard to believe it is almost a year since I lost his mom. I
still have been unable to go and see where she is buried, I miss her more now
than ever. Heather is doing so well, she is 4 this year and I hope to show
her in some pleasure driving classes this summer. I am so thankful I still
have her to play and work with.

My dream was to register Katrina with the NFHR (she was registered with the
FBA) but there were some questions about her sire and his dam, anyway to keep
