I seem to have a problem with my email sound when new mail arrives.
The sound is coming through the speakers on my laptop and not through

Wondering how I can fix this?

I am using windows 7, on dell desktop, jaws 16, and windows mail.

Really appreciate any help, and thank you!

In opening specific email messages, I am unable to complete the AltH, A, V

"ignore conversation". Tabbing over to cancel this message does not resolve
the problem.

I would appreciate any input regarding how to correct or resolve this issue.

Copied the entire forward text including old addresses. Pasted the message

clicked on the strip it button
copied the text to clipboard
Back to the forward email
Deleted the entire message
pasted in the new copied stripped message
All of the old addresses and greater signs were removed. This is what I

You can use live mail from XP forward. So far as issues are concerned that

[JAWS-Users] Email Issue

2018-02-10 Thread Michelle Clark
All,

When I am spellchecking an email, and have to go back to check other things
or alt tab to another window, I am finding Outlook will not let me finish
the email. What I end up doing is pressing escape and then pressing cancel
to complete my email

Is anyone experiencing this? I am using Microsoft 2013, JAWS18and Windows
10. I have been using this same configuration for over a year without any
problems. Could the situation be an update? Suggestions?

When I got my win7 computer, we put Outlook 2003 on it for my email program
because I'd been hearing so many complaints about live mail. But I find it
to be very cumbersome. I'm accustomed to Outlook Express and Outlook seems
much clunkier, somehow. Also, the focus keeps shifting. I can respond to an
email and find my focus moved to My Documents if it's opened or I can close
an email and find myself at "shut down computer". I have the latest upgrade
for jaws 13, and I have IE9, also magic, very enlarged. I'm wondering how
people are feeling about windows live mail these days. Is it still difficult
to use with jaws? Is it still unstable? Is it a more efficient email program
than Outlook 2003?

First: I have a JFW demo that I'm going to be using till I get my J12 license

Can I simply put in the CD and validate the demo?

Also, I was used to outlook express on the PC on XP, and Outlook 2003 was very

Is there anything like Outlook Express for Win7?

Hi All.

I sent this email earlier but did not see even my original so am sending again
as this problem is driving me crazy.

I am using Windows |Live Mail and my emails are now grouped according to who
sent them rather than by date which is making finding them really difficult how
do I alter this I cannot find the correct view option.

Also thanks to whoever gave instructions on changing JAWS to classic view as
for a while JAWS has simply been sluggish and not keeping up or often going
totally silent now it seems to be working like a dream!

Re: [JAWS-Users] email.

2009-06-02 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Holger,

Most of the time, the choice for sorting is found in the view menu of
programs. First, move into the list of messages in the "Sent items" folder.
The following is for Windows Mail, and Outlook Express should be very
similar. Press alt+V to bring up the view menu. Use down arrow to the
"sort by" menu and use right arrow key to move into the submenu. Use down
arrow to the "Sent" choice and if it is not checked then use enter key to
check it. Go back into the same "sort by" submenu and use down arrow key
until you get to the "descending" choice. If it is not checked then use
enter key to check it. If either choice is checked already then don't press
enter key on the choice or it will no longer be the active choice. Both the
"Sent" and the "descending" choices should be checked so that your sent
items folder will show the most recently sent items first.

In Microsoft Outlook 2007, again move into the "sent items" folder. Press
alt+V to go into the view menu. Use right arrow to move into the "arrange
by" submenu and if the "Date" choice is not checked then use enter key to
check it. If it is checked then use left arrow back into the main view
menu. Use down arrow key to the "Current view" menu and use right arrow
into the submenu. Use up arrow to the "Customize current view" choice and
press enter key. In the "sort items by" combo box make sure that the "sent"
choice is selected. If not then use up or down arrow keys to find that
choice. Use tab key to the radio buttons for ascending or descending and
make your choice. use the tab key to the OK button and press spacebar.

If you are using a different E-mail program then you will need to specify in
another message.

Take care.

Hi Holger,

If you don't have the " sent " selection in the sort by sub-menu you will
need to go into the " columns... " list box and check the
"Sent" choice and then Sent will be in your sort by sub-menu. Through
Brian's steps I learned that you can set up your sent folder differently
than your other folders. Thanks Brian, as I stated , I had no clue that the
Sent folder could be setup differently than the other folders. Take care.

Hey Guys,

I still have that weird problem with my rules for moving emails. I've double
checked and I only have moto folder and not copy to folder checked.
I've undone and reset the rules. I've even created new rules for new lists
and still the same thing is happening where a copy of the email is ending up
in one folder and another copy in a secondary folder.
Any ideas?

[JAWS-Users] Email Problem

2009-01-26 Thread Donnie Parrett
My ISP is our local telephone company. I am finding that from time to time
there are 3 or 4 of the
national ISP's that will block PRTC (my local provider). For some reason they
recognize it as SPAM.
This causes a problem for the people who are with the ISP's who are doing this.
 I send out a couple
of daily emails, and when this occurs, they are not able to receive them.
Someone told me that
there might be some type of program that I could run in order to prevent this
from happening. If
anyone knows what I am talking about, please let me know. Any advice on this
subject will be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Donnie

Re: [JAWS-Users] Email Sound

2015-08-14 Thread Trish
ok, I must be either loosing my mind here or it's cause I haven't had
coffee yet this morning, or my hearing is failing.
I checked in control panel, the email sound is set, I tested it and heard it
through desktop speakers, imagine that!
Its still sounding as if it's coming from behind me instead of in front, I
guess I will get used to it.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Email Sound

Hello,

I seem to have a problem with my email sound when new mail arrives.
The sound is coming through the speakers on my laptop and not through
speakers on my desktop. The email program is not open on the laptop.
Wondering how I can fix this?

I am using windows 7, on dell desktop, jaws 16, and windows mail.

Really appreciate any help, and thank you!

[JAWS-Users] email accounts setting

2015-10-19 Thread Trish
hello,,
i need to find out something to with my email client on my window's 7 laptop.
My ISP has recently changed servers, so I changed it in tools/accounts for my
email property settings. I might note here that this is an account using POP
with email client using Window's Mail.

So after changing on the server tab from the old server based on what my ISP is
telling me to the new server, mail.twc.com I do all that and apply the changes
and ok it and close out the accounts.
But then I get a pop-up from Window's Credentials wanting me to give my user
name/password, so I do this, and tab to ok. *window's credentials checkbox is
checked here to remember or for security purposes.
This is a nightmare, cause this *bi*** will not go away and keeps asking same
thing over and over.
I can alt-tab back to inbox, but no mail, huge sigh here.

so is there a work around this most annoying pop-up, what would happen if the
checkbo is not checked on the credentials?
I cannot create another email account because WM does not like multi-identies.
so am I just like stuck here? The server goes back to the old settings and all
is fine, no pop-up, no issues, mail comes in.
And my ISP gets paid to give wrong info apparently, lol

Appreciated for any feedback on all this if anyone has anything to offer.

Trish

[JAWS-Users] Email reading style

2016-07-05 Thread wayne smith
Hello all-

I am using Windows 7 with Outlook 2007. When I get some emails and open
them some are in a table style and others in a memo style. Under the File
menu I can choose between the table style which is unreadable or the memo
style which I can read. When I go into the menu and choose memo style and
hit ok, then I have to close and re-open Outlook and I can read all memos
and the table style is gone. However, it keeps coming back and I need to
know if I can permenantly select memo style for reading all email messages.

Thanks in advance for any help,

[JAWS-Users] email video links

2016-04-14 Thread Lenny McHugh
I am at the point that I will not view any videos that are sent to me by
links. Twice some unwanted software was installed on my machine. I honestly
believed that it came from watching a forwarded email video link.
I just installed uncheck to help prevent unwanted software from being
installed when you do some updates. Is there anything that will notify or
stop the installation of unsoliced software when bringing up a video link? I
have the vipre firewall and antivirus software running.

Re: [JAWS-Users] email in thunderbird
In the view menu, arrow to sort by (or type the letter s). Right arrow
to a list. Arrow down to from and check. I am not sure if you can
still leave
the date checked, too, so the mail will still be sorted in chrono
order. I do not know of a way to for sure keep the emails coming in
date order, from

appearing before the subject if the above suggestion does not work. .

You can use live mail from XP forward. So far as issues are concerned
that
is another matter, but they aren't operating system specific so far as
I am
aware, it's the program itself that has problems like no status line

2013-02-25 Thread Flor Lynch

I'm using the 2011 WLM. I should backtrack a little, and say that the
status line does not give, or not reliably, the unread messages status.
I get the count of unread messages when i go to a folder. It does,
however, give you the message details of the message that is currently
nearest or highlighted, with a lot of ... for the dialogue's sake. I
have the preview pane checked.

Hi,

I understand that email is not secure. However, it is also my understanding
that email services such as Gmail and yahoo are completely insecure and are
scanned in order to target advertising.

I need to change email providers so would be interested in any suggestions
of providers who maintain at least some privacy. I'd like to be able to
continue to use MS Outlook 2016.

Thanks for any guidance you might have.

Hi. I think I recall a thread a few months ago on this list about how to
make windows mail (not live mail) the default client in windows 7, but am
not sure. I went through the tips page on this site but couldn't find it.
Can anyone recall the steps to take to make this possible, or did I
misunderstand. Thanks in advance

it takes a kit, which is available on my grab bag website (address/link
under my name) and i hearby warn you that folks who have revived windows
mail had trouble with installing sp1 after restoreing WM to functionality,
so it may cause troubles in the future (stress the may... on that)

The demo will run in 40 minute mode until it is authorized. It is possible
to enable windows mail on windows 7, all the instructions are on the

Hi all:
2 quick questions.
First: I have a JFW demo that I'm going to be using till I get my J12
license this Wednesday.
Can I simply put in the CD and validate the demo?

Also, I was used to outlook express on the PC on XP, and Outlook 2003 was
very unfriendly with J11.
Is there anything like Outlook Express for Win7?

Thanks,

Jorge

Thanks.
Yes--I know about the demo--what I'm saying though is when I get my CD, can I
authorize the demo using that CD or do I need to reinstall?

Thanks,

Jorge

If you hit the alt key on an unopen message it will bring up the menu ribbon
you need to find arrange by submenu.

1. Hit alt and right arrow over until you hear view tab.

2. down arrow until you hear arrangement submenu

3. Right arrow to open the arrangement submenu

4. Down arrow until you hear sort by drop down and hit enter. There are
several items you can view to check or uncheck including date by

I am using Windows |Live Mail and my emails are now grouped according to who
sent them rather than by date which is making finding them really difficult
how do I alter this I cannot find the correct view option.

Also thanks to whoever gave instructions on changing JAWS to classic view
as for a while JAWS has simply been sluggish and not keeping up or often
going totally silent now it seems to be working like a dream!

Re: [JAWS-Users] Email Question

2011-06-24 Thread Brian Lee
e list then the minimized state
returns. You need to remove the minimized state more permanently by using
the options found in the navigation pane button in the layout group of the
view tab. If you leave the pane minimized then from the navigation minimize
button you can use down arrow key to find the buttons for the favorite
folders.

If you turn the navigation pane off, only the list of messages and the
search box appear in the window. Favorite folders are not shown even though
the option is checked in the list of choices found by using the navigation
pane button in the layout group under the view tab of the ribbon.

With navigation pane, reading pane and the To Do bar all off, only the lis
of messages, a search edit box and a "submit search" button are showing.
You can tab between those three items. If you use CTRL+tab, you will go
between the search box and the list of messages.

With the pane either minimized or off, you can still use CTRL+Y to list
folders.

If you have the navigation pane off, the reading pane off and the To Do bar
off, and you use F6 a couple times, you will find a pane with two buttons.
If you press enter on the reading pane, the To Do bar will be back in the
tab order but will be minimized. The ribbon will also go into a minimized
state and you will not be able to tab from the upper part of the ribbon to
the lower part. When you tab from the upper part of the ribbon, you will
find the minimized ribbon button is checked. Press enter on it to remove
the ribbon from a minimized state. If you select the Normal button then the
folder list, the task pane and other items will be back on the screen.

If your messages are being shown in groups and you have to expand or
collapse levels by using right and left arrow keys, you can remove the
grouping status. If a message is selected in your inbox then use
CTRL+spacebar to remove the selection. Use application key or Shift+f10 to
bring up the right mouse button contextual menu. Arrow down to the Arrange
By menu and open it by using enter key or right arrow into it. Use down
arrow to the "show in groups" selection and press enter key on that choice
if it is checked.

The most clutter free layout is likely when the To Do bar, the reading pane
and the navigation pane are all set to the off position. However, you might
want to leave the navigation pane with the normal setting in order to have
the folders available when you use shift+tab from the message list. Again,
you could also leave that pane off and just use CTRL+Y to list folders.

Also, if you go under the view tab and use tab key to the conversation
group, there are two items on the lower part of the ribbon dealing with
showing messages according to conversation. If you do not want messages
grouped according to subject in one folder or conversations grouped together
regardless of in which folders they reside, then the first choice in the
conversation group should not be checked. JAWS might not tell you it is a
checkbox when you tab to it in the conversation group. As you tab, it is
right after the reset view button. You might want to tab once past it and
then shift+tab to it and JAWS might then let you know it is a checkbox. If
it is checked then use spacebar to remove the checkmark if you do not want
messages grouped according to conversation.

Take care.

I have recently upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2010. I hate all the
stuff that is in Outlook 2010. Is there any way I can simplify Outlook

Thanks,

Hello Donnie,

You can control layouts by using the buttons for the Navigation Pane,
reading pane and the To Do bar in the layout group under the view tab. Use
Alt followed by V to move to the view tab or Alt and then right arrow to it.
Tab into the lower part of the ribbon and keep tabbing until you find the
button for the navigation pane, which is in the layout group. Use tab once
more and you will find the button for the reading pane. Tab again and you
will find the button for the To Do bar. Pressing spacebar on each of those
buttons will present you with a list of choices. Use up or down arrow key
in the list and press enter key on the appropriate choice. There is also an
options choice for more specific selections.

If you do not want the calendar events or tasks showing then change the
status of the To Do bar from normal to off. Use the To Do button in the
layout group of the view tab of the ribbon. If you choose to minimize the
To Do list in the choices given after choosing that button then the other
checked items will not be shown in the window. However, you will be able to
temporarily show the items by using tab or shift+tab from the message lis to
the To Do button minimized choice and pressing enter key. If you use the To
Do button in the layout group of the view tab then you will get checkboxes
for the items to show. They will include tasks, date navigator, calendar,
number of months to show, etc. If you don't want those items showing on the
screen then apply the "off" status by pressing enter key on that choice
after using the spacebar on the To Do Bar button in the layout group.

The second of the two buttons of the layout group in tab order is the
reading pane button. After tabbing to it, press enter or spacebar to
activate the button and get the list of choices. If you choose the off
position then you will need to open the message by pressing enter key on it
in the list of messages to read it. If it is on then you can tab from the
list of messages to the reading pane or use f6. In Outlook 2010, you can
read the message from this pane without opening the message. Doing so does
not present the same risks as it did in earlier versions of Outlook as there
is much better security built in to the use of the reading pane. You can
choose to put the reading pane at the bottom, on the right, on the left or
turn it off by using the button for it in the layout group of the view tab
and making the appropriate choice. The list of choices found after pressing
spacebar on the reading pane button has an options choice that will bring up
a dialog box for some reading pane options. They will only be in effect if
the reading pane is not turned off. You can choose to have items marked as
read when viewed in the reading pane, marked as read when selection changes,
or you can choose to have items marked as read with a single key reading
using spacebar. The default is the latter choice. If the reading pane is
open, someone can just repeatedly press spacebar to scroll through the
message showing in the reading pane and not have to use arrow keys or the
mouse. When one message is done the next one starts.

You can find two buttons by pressing F6 repeatedly. They are the Normal and
Reading buttons. Use right and left arrow keys to move between them and
enter key to make one of them active. Even if the reading pane is off, if
you use the reading button then other panes will show as minimized buttons
when you use tab or shift+tab in the window.

There is a list of buttons under the navigation pane options that you can
show in a certain order. In the layout group of the view tab, pick the
navigation pane button. Use up arrow or down arrow to the options choice
and press spacebar or enter. You will find a list of checkboxes to check
the buttons to show and you can tab to buttons to adjust their position.

In the navigation pane settings, you can turn off favorites folders if you
do not want to see the folder view. Use the navigation pane button in the
layout group of the view tab of the ribbon and press enter key on the choice
for favorites. Personal folders will still show in the folder view.
However, one of the benefits of having the favorites folder at the top of
the folder list is the inclusion of the unread mail folder. When in the
favorites folder list at the top of the folder list, you can quickly go
through unread messages from all your folders in that one place.

Is there a way to clear out the search string to start a new one?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Email Search

2010-06-10 Thread Patricia

Hmmm, this seems to be complicated.
If I pressed the f3 to search for an email in my deleted folder, it does
that, but if I wish to search for another, I have to move to anotehr folder,
otherwise all I get is, the same message box I already stated.
Now if I press control/shift/f that gives me more options as well as a
browse button to choose the folder to look in for said email. Then I can tab
down to the "new search button."

If I go to another folder within OE using the "f3" I can get more options
and it too has the browse and advance buttons, which is exactly the same if
you pressed control/shift/f.

But personally, it's both tedious and time consuming to locate an email this
way, I can find it faster just doing it myself.

A note...if you change the location to search in a folder using the
control/shift/f and browse to buttons, it gives you a drop down list of all
your folders within OE. Unless I am doiing something wrong which certainly
could be the case, the "f3" only searches in the folder you are in at the
time you pressed the key combo.

Happy searchin' y'all,lol

Hello Patricia;

well, if your looking for a specific message, in your OE folders,

and, you do use the f3-key,
once you press the f3-key,

now tab to advance,press enter.

now, you can search for specific criteria,
email address,
subject,
etc.

hope this helps.

Hmmm, this seems to be complicated.
If I pressed the f3 to search for an email in my deleted folder, it
does that, but if I wish to search for another, I have to move to
anotehr folder, otherwise all I get is, the same message box I already
stated.
Now if I press control/shift/f that gives me more options as well as a
browse button to choose the folder to look in for said email. Then I
can tab down to the "new search button."

If I go to another folder within OE using the "f3" I can get more
options and it too has the browse and advance buttons, which is exactly
the same if you pressed control/shift/f.

But personally, it's both tedious and time consuming to locate an email
this way, I can find it faster just doing it myself.

A note...if you change the location to search in a folder using the
control/shift/f and browse to buttons, it gives you a drop down list of
all your folders within OE. Unless I am doiing something wrong which
certainly could be the case, the "f3" only searches in the folder you
are in at the time you pressed the key combo.

Happy searchin' y'all,lol

Re: [JAWS-Users] Email Search

2010-06-11 Thread Steve

Two ways to search emails.

The first way, as you know, is to open the folder where you want to start
your search. Press control-shift-f to bring up the find message dialog.
Specify your fields, e.g. who the message was from, relevant words in the
subject field or relevant words in the message body. You also can have it
search any subfolders. You get better results if you don't specify too
much.

The second way that I use to find email is to use Google Desktop. It will
find emails that I no longer even have on my system. The search will
usually be quicker. But, when you install the Google Desktop, you need to
configure it and give it time to index all the files and messages you want
before it will do a complete search. It only indexes when the computer is
inactive.

[JAWS-Users] email spelling checker

2010-08-02 Thread Lenny McHugh
I find this very interesting. There was a demo copy of office 2007 installed.
When I would do spell check windows live was much better with the spell
checker. I uninstalled that and installed 2003. The spelling checker is not as
good. With 2007 if I missed a space between two words the spell checker would
give the two words as an option. With 2003 installed it no longer does that
Just a very interesting observation

Any ideas?

Is this rule you have set up for an email list?
If so, does it happen for every email you receive from that list, or just
some?

Any ideas?

Kerry

Re: [JAWS-Users] Email Rules

2007-08-05 Thread Flor Lynch
You might have two rules for the same criteria but that do two different
actions. How are your rules defined? I use "where the To: or CC: line
contains" as my main rules definition, and it works well. Try "stop
processing all rules" for a time, see if any double copies come in then.
(If they don't you'll know it could be something in your rules. if they do,
then the duplicates could be something to do with your ISP.)

OK, in the selection that says, what would you like to do with the message,
make sure that you have only, move it to the specified folder checked and
not, move a copy to the specified folder.
Also, in the template, do you have, to a dristribution list checked and not,
from someone?
