Re: [LegacyUG] Date problem

2020-09-28 Thread Noddie
Hi Jennie

I went there before I posted.
I have just changed my setting to what you mentioned and the dates now read
Aug 12, 1920 for example
I need them to read
12 Aug 1920

I was able to do this before. Have been using this program for many many
years and this is the first time
I have had this problem.
Thank you for your guidance
Regards
Gwen

[LegacyUG] Date problem

2020-09-28 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone
I am not sure if I am doing this wrong or not.
In the past I was able to enter a date in an easy form if the date was 4
Oct 1942
I would enter 4 10 1942 and this would be filled in correctly in the date
field on my main individual view.

Today I have found I can no longer do this if I type:-

4 10 1942 for 4 Oct 1942
I get the result
10 Apr 1942?

Has anyone experience this and if so is there a work around?
Many thanks

Re: [LegacyUG] Announcement from the staff

2020-02-03 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone
Just wondering how to update Legacy without issue. It seems there are a few
problems.
Does anyone know if Microsoft has done the update as mentioned in the email
below?
Do I need to run the update from the legacy tab. Close down anti virus and
any other windows open? Will this be ok or are there still issues.

I would appreciate guidance with this update.
Many thanks
Gwen

Re: [LegacyUG] Complete date not be pulled into internet search

It depends On the format you are using.
Think you typed ??-12-1951
I may be mistaken but the date format is
21 Aug 1951 as an example

[LegacyUG] Blurry fonts

2019-11-13 Thread Noddie
Hello everyone this is such a great group and full of ideas. Thank you for
that

Would someone be able to advise me how to change the fonts on my Legacy
screens from appearing blurry. I have checked customise and then fonts and
stretch fonts while resizing and this is ticked. I find this is the only
program on windows 10 that appears with blurry fonts?

I would appreciate any guidance with this

[LegacyUG] Color schemes legacy 8

2015-12-15 Thread Noddie
Hello everyone
I have hunted the net for an answer to this without an joy.

I would love to know how once you have set and changed the global background of
the family view along with tab changes etc, how do I save this as my default
with a new name. Everytime I change it then go out of the program, it reverts
back to the vintage solar scheme. I know I am missing something here, but
when I go to colours I do not see a save as 'your name' option. Is it under
customise maybe.

I would love any help with this as I do not really like any of the colour
schemes fully and would like to add my slant to that.
Thanks so much
Gwen

[LegacyUG] Event in marriages

2012-04-26 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone I have the latest update for legacy deluxe. The problem I am having is with events for marriages.  I have a divorce and also a marriage event which I noted for a couple and when I enable the event, come out to the family view page of this marriage the event icon is not highlighted.  I have tried this many times and cannot get it to highlight letting me know I have documented the marriage.  I do not tend to use source writer as it confuses me.  Is there anyone who can help me with this as I am probably doing it wrong.  The list of assigned sources along with the notes icons are both highlighted as I have notes in them.Kind regardsGwen

Hi all
I was wondering about an adoption I cam across and how to record it within my

The child was born 1897 without a father, no mother is stated either.
A family adopted here in 1901 and changed here name to their surname and also
changed her
christian names. How would I record this successfully within my records so I

Re: [LegacyUG] New Mac

2011-05-16 Thread Noddie
You would need to run something like Parallels which is what I do
myself.
Once setup it is quite easy to use, and Legacy can be run from there.
You can also drag an drop files from Parallels to Os if it is setup to
do so.
Cheers

Re: [LegacyUG] Families iPhnoe app

2011-05-10 Thread Noddie
Thankyou John for your wonderful explanation.

I feel this is the right program for me. I was just wondering how I
'update to the legacy database to reflect all of my changes made'

I am using a mac with parallels and use Legacy family tree latest
version. I do not expect Families to be the same as Legacy but
am I right in saying it is like a holding/viewing program, and from
there
I need to use 'Families Sync free program' to upload my data to
the ipad. It seems to me I have to upload to Families, and then
to the sync program? to view it on my ipad.

Appreciate your time with this, before I go ahead an buy it at
$19 for the ipad. What a clever invention.

Gwen

I was also wondering about an app for the iPad 2 which I could use in
conjunction with my Legacy family tree.
Would I be right in saying that 'Families' could be the one I would
use. Would it sync with my mac and my
windows side where 'Legacy' is.

I was hoping I could gedcom a file, and send it to my ipad and then be
able to view and edit records from
there? The site for the software does not explain the use of it very
well, it is only a viewer or a mobile
user friendly program where I could transfer my data to and then
transfer it back to my mac.
Thanks for your time

[LegacyUG] Error 3314

Hi all

I have just recently downloaded the upadate for deluxe and am finding
this error which is not mentioned

Error saving picture
Error 3314. The field 'tblBR.IDBPPic' cannot contain a null value
because the required property for this field is set to true. Enter a
value in this field.
Would you like to try again etc.
I can only push Quit and it quits right out of Legacy, and I loose my
latest work.
Any clues.
I have done a maintenance check, and nothing is wrong.?
Thanks heaps

Thankyou everyone for your wonderful response to my query. I shall
try the event
report that makes sense, just a pity you need to take another step
land not get a
good result from the event window itself. Ta heaps

Hi

I was wondering if whilst in the Edit event window for a person
whether you can print out the info on the
screen without having to go Search | Individual | Event etc. There
does not seem to be an option for this there?
Maybe I missed something.
Thanks for that

Re: [LegacyUG] Repeating info and direct line

2011-02-10 Thread Noddie
Hi again Mike

Sorry I was hasty on my reply had my little grandson on my lap, and
am also using a Mac
computer, which does not always cross over with the same key functions.
After reading your info I tried the F key, but had not got my Mac which
also used Parallels, set to use the F keys. Had not realised you
need to manually change
this function. I did some reading and found I need to go into system
apparently and change
the function for this. Am fiddling with this now and hopefully it
shall work in some way now.
Thanks for your time with this
Much appreciated.

[LegacyUG] Repeating info and direct line

2011-02-08 Thread Noddie
Yeh I finally got through.

Hi there
I was wondering if it is possible to use one of the F keys to repeat
info when typing into the Family page.
ie: If I type St George, Sheffield, Wry, Eng

can I then say push F3 or similar to repeat this info on another
Family page for another family member.
I know you can start typing but often you might have several St
George address's and need to go through
them all to get the right one.

Also is it possible to get a printout for a Direct line of a family
only so I can sift out the ones I need info
for. I am finding it hard to do this and wonder if there is an easy
route for it.

Thanks heaps

Hi there
Thankyou to Dennis and the Bain family.
I think you have hit the nail on the head. I have events for all the
census years, where I can and
out of the 3863 in my search 131 had still got the 1911 date in
them. I shall take heed and do the
tag and search and see if it improves the situation.

[LegacyUG] Search for event details

2010-08-05 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone

I am hoping this has not been asked before.
I would like to make a list of individuals who do not have 1911
census details in the events I have created.

I did a search
IndividualEvent-date Not equal to 1911
All ok I got a list of 3863 individuals

I checked the info and found that some on the list had been included
even though their 1911 date had been filled in.

I am a little nervous with this, as I am not sure now that the search
is full proof, and wonder if I am doing it the
wrong way. It seems a little hit and miss to me?

Thanks for your time

Hi once again,

Well I have spent quite some time on this and as you said Mike I had
a glitch on my pc wide of my mac and the desktop had changed
itself from Classic to Win Xp and this had made the difference,
funnily enough only with Legacy. I have manually changed it back
again, and now have to redo my colors over. Thanks heaps for your
input, shall keep that in mind.

Re: [LegacyUG] Little white rectangles behind labels

2010-07-22 Thread Noddie
Hi again Mike

Thanks for your help with the Family search arrows, it worked a treat.
I also did a check of the other hint, for windows and the background
color
of the File | Edit | Add | View | etc in Legacy and this is the
only program
where I am having the White background (rectangle) behind the text ie:
File, Edit, Add etc.
I have not changed anything within my settings and not other program
is affected. It used to be grey behind and not any longer. I have
taken screenshots
of my colors in the past in color, so I could retain this when I
upgraded as I always
have problems with this process, as it changes everything back to the
Legacy default.
Thanks once again for your help.

[LegacyUG] Little white rectangles behind labels

2010-07-22 Thread Noddie
Hi again

I wrote the question below about a week ago, and was wondering if
anyone is able to throw any light on why I am getting this new look.
I cannot find any documentation or help within customize to change
these white rectangles. I also note there are arrow (greyed out) on
each
individual on the Family view page. Is this a new feature which I
have missed. Can anyone explain what they actually do.

Re: [LegacyUG] Colors changed on update

2010-07-19 Thread Noddie
Thankyou for your reply Ron

I have always saved my work, but it happens each time. I was curious
to see if anyone else had the same
problem. I have my colors saved in the color folder. I also note
that the Labels on the Family page
File | Edit |etc
all have a white background to them now, in the form of a rectangle,
is there anyway
I can turn that off, it is quite distracting. Thanks for your help.

[LegacyUG] Colors changed on update

2010-07-19 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone

I am puzzled as every time I update my legacy now on the latest
7.4 my color scheme changes and defaults to the legacy preferred.
I then have to go through and change it all back to my preferred
one. It is a hassle and I wonder if anyone else has the same problem
Thanks for that

[LegacyUG] New updates changes my colors

2010-07-15 Thread Noddie
Hi again everyone

It seems that every time I update Legacy it changes my color
selections I have always used, and defaults to the ones Legacy wants
to use.

I have kept my color scheme thankfully, but I still cannot remember
how to change the Label color on the Edit event screen.
They are in Red and I want to change it to something more subdue.
Also I note that the Labels on the Family screen
File | Edit | Add | View etc now have a white background with white
Black Text for the labels. I would like to change the background if it
is possible.
Thanks for any help, and I do wonder why every time a change in the
way of an update arrives, it changes my color scheme?
Any ideas.

2010-05-31 Thread Noddie
Hi

I know tis has probably been asked and answered dozens of times, but
how do I do a search for information contained within my notes field
either General Research or Medical.

It never seems easy to me, and I always get lost when I need to do
any other search other than Individual, Marriage or Death.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: [LegacyUG] Pictures missing after upgrade to version 7.4

2010-04-29 Thread Noddie
Further to my query, I note when I go in manually and check the
missing photos there is a question mark on the photo, even though the
picture icon located on the family view page. However when I go find
the photo that is missing, put it back in as the right one, I then
end up with two identical photos in there even though the initial
check showed a missing photo with a ? mark.

This is so frustrating and is there something I am doing wrong.

Thanks once again

Gwen

[LegacyUG] Pictures missing after upgrade to version 7.4

2010-04-29 Thread Noddie
Hi everyone

I recently upgraded to ver 7.4 paid version and now I have to go
through the laborious task of telling Legacy where some of
my pictures are situated. It seems it can find the ones directly in
the Picture directory, but not the ones as an extension of this
directory. I sort mine out with each directory for each category.
Can I not do that no?

Thanks for any help, I do not really want to have to manually seek
and find each of 55 photos which it states are missing.
The report also says Missing.txt but they are all jpg's.

Regards Gwen
