Finally picked up the ep on the way home today. To me, the I

Then again, this might be due to one being on vinyl & the other
on cassette. Anyone else 'notice' that?

Actually, kid, I don't want to read yr homo-erotica in private e-mail

Ok well I'm finally all moved back to suburbia aka Marysville, WA home of
the strawberry and a bunch of cows.

I've uploaded all the files you'll need to the
http://www.serv.net/~t3kno/mmshirt/ directory.

dates.txt = list of MM show dates
MMshirt_list.jpg = jpg file for the list
kingrichard.zip = compressed PC Font typeface I would prefer used for the
dates / I could settle for a plain system type font as well.

I want the dates in columns in the middle white space of the picture. Your
more than welcome to change the size of the image but don't blow it up to
much remeber it has to fit on a t-shirt.

Understand the graphic needs more work I AM NOT an artist in any sense. Feel
free to send comment / suggestions.

they're from the detroit area -- marshall, to be exact.

the cd "our own wars" is available on no idea records. no idea has
a website (http://www.noidearecords.com); but the last i heard they
were out of the album. same with cdnow, who also says they have
it on backorder. i finally found a copy at lumberjack
(http://www.lumberjack-online.com) for around $10 if i remember
correctly.

as previously stated, they sound similar to hot water music and
jawbreaker but still have their own unique sound. two vocalists with
somewhat gruffy voices, good lyrics, blah blah, et cetera. they're
also excellent live, in my opinion. check 'em out.

1) Hot Water Music - No Division

I originally didn't like this album very much.. But it fits the mood
I've been in over the last month or so.

2) The Beach Boys - Smiley Smile/Wild Honey

Technically, I shouldn't be including this since I just got it
yesterday, but both of these albums are AMAZING. Harmonies +
Handclaps = A happy Brad.

3) Usra Minor - This Dot's A Mess

A local band featuring an ex-member of Last Call, a band that
played with Remington and the Appleseed Cast and would've been
involved with The Emo Diaries Volume Four if Deep Elm wasn't
stupid. Since I can't direct you to an Ursa Minor page, check out
some Last Call mp3s:
http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/8/last_call.html

4) Small Brown Bike - Our Own Wars

". . .your family cried, and your friends all cried, i finally cried when
i realized what love is. sitting on my bathroom floor asking "why?"
i think you're stronger for wanting to stay alive. . ."

5) Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crime

I think this went out of print recently. That makes me sad.

--

MIA: The new manRay19 CD, "Shady Hinting Shady". It hasn't
shown up in my mailbox yet, but I've had about half of the cd stuck
in my head constantly over the last week...

--

And on the turntable...

1) Le Shok - We Are Electrocution (LP)

Quoting them from Michfest: "We're not a political band, we're a
dance band." Fun. I'm not in a bad mood all the time, as my
constant listening to this band shows...

2) Saetia - Eronel (7")

Even if Billy now hates his lyrics (or, at least, makes it sound like
he does) this is still an AMAZING release. I had my All Night Lock-
in/Party thingy last night for my senior class (I graduated last night!
Woo-hoo!) and I spent a good hour or so with the "there is no

[MMouse]: Top Five CDs to wake up to (at 4:50 a.m.)

2000-06-09 Thread K a t e M e r c i e r

Since my waking up really sets the tone for my day (i have to work at
6 a.m. every. day.), what I first hear is of the utmost importance.
I narrowed this down from a list of 25, which is how many CDs fit in
my changer.

In Chronological Order of what might occur, or Preferred Order,
perhaps.

(It doesn't take me 5 CDs to get up, but... who knows, maybe I lent
one out, or something.)

1. Built to Spill "There's Nothing Wrong With Love"
2. Belle and Sebastian "Tigermilk"
3. Nick Drake "Bryter Layter" or "Pink Moon" if I'm feeling ?blue?.
4. Grandaddy - the New One...
5. Flogging Molly "Swagger"

p.s. no, you shut up. no, you. you. you infinity.

[MMouse]: busticate the perpetrators

2000-06-09 Thread Philip Smoker

Honestly, this here conglomerate of Modest Mouse fans
is really starting to mature into a full-fledged
"mailing list" with all of the in-fighting, senseless
bickering, bastardized insight and other such random
nonsense. I gotta say: Rawk on!

Re: hockey
First of all, last night's game was very awesome
indeed. I think it's fun for me to watch because I'm
not really cheering for either team. I mean, it
would've been great if the Devils had won just to get
to see the Cup being hauled out, but just the same I'd
love to see the Stars win again and take this all the
way to Game 7. Two conference finals to 7, then the
finals to 7? Unprecedented.
And really, complaining about Hatcher's kids beating
the Cup with plastic swords is ridiculous. If that
makes you cringe, you REALLY need to read up on yr
Stanley Cup lore for some hilarious stories of Cup
debauchery. I read a great story once in the Wall
Street Journal about the gentleman whose job it is to
escort the Cup everywhere. For those of you who did
not know, when a team wins the Cup, each player gets
one full day to do whatever he wants with it (which is
the basis for those recent NHL commercials with
Belfour on the Scrambler and Hull locking it in his
ride).

Re: NJ, the state
You know, Pennsylvania has traffic circles and cow
manure as well. And really neither are very bad in
moderation considering the alternatives (which would
be gridlock and the stench of the city, respectively).

Re: lawsuit
At least the person wasn't claiming that Modest Mouse
ratified NAFTA or invaded Kuwait. It made me chuckle.

Re: live shows
I think the only drawback to a band becoming more
popular is how the diversity of the crowd at their
concerts is altered. There will be those who come
because their insider buddies scored "+1" on the guest
list, or those who come just to be seen. I used to
complain about DC crowds, but looking back at the
Mogwai show I saw last September at the Black Cat, the
only sounds I could hear during the quiet moments were
empty beer bottles hitting the trash can. In
comparison, everyone in Philly and San Francisco felt
the need to carry on conversations amongst themselves.

Re: a trade
Is there a Josh Rosen on this mailing list? If so,
could you please e-mail me?

Re: transoo3
Is anyone else going to the Transmissions festival in
Chapel Hill in July? Just curious.

end lengthy post,
