Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm plugin buggy?

2007-03-28 Thread Craig, James \(IT\)
Hmmm. Why would you put that and not just music/children of bodom ?
(The plugin can handle spaces in station names)
Or was it generated by the plugin/lastfm somehow?

What does a 'music' station do - I've not seen one before?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm plugin buggy?

2007-03-28 Thread Micha123

Well I cant exactly remember how I put it in.. either I copy/pasted it
from the last.fm page.. or I generated it somehow via the web
interface.

For some reason the last.fm page (in contrast zu the other station
links) seems to generate music links with + instead of spaces - no
idea why, since it also works with spaces.

I'm dont exactly know what the music stations do.. but there's a lot of
them on the last.fm page.

Oh.. but the original problem just happened again (without any plus
stations beeing in my list).

This morning to start last.fm I clicked on the first station in my last
in the webinterface, but it started playing a totally different station
- BUT interestingly enough it was the last station I had listened to
last night. So the problem might be somewhere there.

Unfortunately I didnt have logging enabled, since I had thought the
problem was gone with the deletion of the + station.

Anyways, now I turned on logging - so I can provide you with the log
the next time it happens.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC can't connect

2007-03-28 Thread danco

AlienBBC usually works fine, but today, when I try to listen, after
checking stream for a long time the message can't connect to
retrieve playlist comes up.

It's rather weird, as this problem occurs both in SoftSqueeze (running
directly on my computer) as well as the Squeezebox, but the items I
have in my AlienBBC playlists do play without any problems. Also I can
play items through my browser, so it shouldn't be a problem with the
BBC site.

Using Mac OS 10.4.9.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm plugin buggy?

2007-03-28 Thread Craig, James \(IT\)
Ah, I see.

The way the plugin works is that it starts playback, which is always
going to be from the last played station, then in sends a change station
request. If the change station request fails at all it would carry on
playing the default station, which could be what's happened here.

There wasn't any way to initiate playback on a specific station before,
although that may have changed.

Sometimes it seems to be associated with Slimserver starting up faster
than the network connection and DNS server info has not been received
from ISP before Slimserver has started and Slimserver caches the fact
that DNS is not ready.

In summary - if this is the problem just restart Slimserver.

Otherwise test whether other network services work such as RSS or
ordinary internet radio.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Last.fm plugin buggy?

2007-03-28 Thread Micha123

Hmm, that was actually what I suspected.. so I guess what happens some
of the times is that you start playback, but the change station request
doesnt get through.

But since the last.fm severs are not very reliable, there seem to be
quite a few times where this happens.

So if there was a way to start playing a station right away, that would
be best.. if that is not possible, maybe it's possible to increase a
network timeout value, if there is such a thing in the code or to send
requests a 2nd time if they fail.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.55

2007-03-28 Thread sjokotof

I'm having trouble getting Moose to play album/artist containing special
characters.
As it has full Unicode support I suppose it must be some setting on my
system (WinXPS P2).

I scanned from library source=folders.
When I try to play files from a folder with a lowercase 'u acute' in
its name, the Moose log shows this as %c3%ba (in bitmap cache) and also
as %C3%83%C2%BA (from filesystem) as the fragment below shows.

Any ideas what I can do to make it play without renaming folders (which
does work)?

It would be worth trying the mysql scanning method - the only thing you

need to do that if your server's on a seperate machine to Moose. Full

Ah ok. so I thought it would look up the missing cover art on amazon and
automatically save it to the respective album folder (or even better the
mp3tag as well), so it would slowly build up the cover library while it
played. That would be awesome :-)

But it wasn't thought to be this way, but just download and display the
missing cover everytime a song without cover is played?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.55

2007-03-28 Thread Dr Lovegrove

[EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Ah ok. so I thought it would look up the missing cover art on amazon and
automatically save it to the respective album folder (or even better the
mp3tag as well), so it would slowly build up the cover library while it
played. That would be awesome :-)

But it wasn't thought to be this way, but just download and display the
missing cover everytime a song without cover is played?

Well, once I have the cover bitmap, I can add an option to save it quite
easily. It would save it to the thumbnails folder anyhow, so next time it
wouldnt need to pester amazon.

The problem saving it back to the server is mapping the currently playing
track to a physical folder. It's quite easy to find the track URL local to
the server machine, but that then needs mapping to a network share,
and it also needs to deal with shortcuts and mapped folders..

It's something I've wanted to do for a while though as it means Moose
could display ALL the bitmaps in an album's folder, so front, back,
booklet, etc.. Also any text files there, and even bitmaps for artists..

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: slimfx - Flash-based Skin / Control App

2007-03-28 Thread Michael Herger
If I double-click on SlimFX.html in Windows Explorer, I do get a page
with the flash player; of course, all the controls are empty, since it
 wasn't called through SlimServer.

Ok. Let's repeat some steps:

- http://yourserver:9000/slimfx/ should show that skin or an error
message, but not the default skin (no need to specify the html file)

- Make sure you've enabled the CLI plugin in Server Settings / Plugins

- open a command window and try to telnet localhost 9090 - does this
work?

Great skin. Some functional improvement that imho would benefit the
whole:
1) integration with Erland's trackstat, which would allow for a much
easier way to sort and view your music
2) Radio integration
3) A link to get to server settings

Excellent work so far, my friend.

This sounds like it might be a different problem than what some other
people are complaining about. It's weird.

I'm assuming other Flash content is working for you, and you don't have
some sort of Flash blocking plug-in at work.

Could you try going directly to the address of the .swf file?
I think that would be http://localhost:9000/slimfx/html/slimfx.swf

Alternately, could you try clearing the browser cache? (Not sure why
this would be an issue, but it's possible).

I was actually seeing some weird behavior with Pandora in Firefox
recently (in Windows) -- the Flash part was basically empty -- so I'm
wondering if there's some sort of Flash/Firefox/Firefox extension
issue.

Incidentally, if the CLI is disabled or blocked by firewall, you should
still see the skin load up...just without the data.

That's fine. Did you try to use SlimFX from that same computer or from
another one? If it was from another machine, try the same, but with the
server's ip address telnet yourserverhere 9090.

Next step: turn on d_http in Server Settings/Debugging. Watch the log
