Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] FLAC Settings on the SB Touch?
There are 2 settings in SBS that affect how flac files are played. The default settings are correct. [SlimDevices: Touch] Alarm does not work properly
Yesterday I tested squeezebox touch alarm and it worked nicely. I configurated it woke me up this morning but nothing happened. It should have alarmed two hours ago, but it didn't work. I can still see the bell icon on the screen though. I have checked that alarm time was (is) correct. Background: I have squeezebox touch. My music library is on vortexbox. I mostly use them with iPeng on iPad. Like I said, yesterday I tested alarm. I set up it 15-20 mins ahead, I shutdown vortexbox and squeezebox touch. About 5 minutes before alarm time vortexbox started up and then right on alarm time squeezebox started to play music from my currect playlist. I repeated this few times and it worked without problems. Then I set up alarm for waking me up in the morning (about 8 hours ahead), shut down VB and sb. And like I said, nothing happened. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Further Dim Display on 'When Off' Screensaver
There is an automatic brightness mode that senses the light level in the room and dims the display when it gets dark. You can adjust the minimum brightness level (the brightness it goes down to when the room is completely dark). If you want the clock to be very dim during the night, set the mode to automatic and the minimum brightness to very low. [SlimDevices: Touch] FLAC Settings on the SB Touch?
Quote the settings could be all out of whack, at the time i found a setup guide and turns out mine was sending flac but pretty much playing it in back into mp3, a couple of boxes to uncheck and check and the sound changed drmatically.. Unquote I don't have this issue but are there settings in the SB Touch to confirm playback is FLAC instead of mp3? I am curious. Interesting. I can try moving my software to another computer, but I'm not running any backup software. I'll also try to bounce the service the next time it happens and post back here. If it's a server-side issue, I wonder if I'll see the same problem when I sync my Boom up? In any case, I'm switching from a Windows desktop to a Linux desktop. Then in SBS Settings > Basic settings specify the NAS folder as your music library. If you are running Windows on your pc there are two ways you could specify the NAS folder. One is by assigning a drive letter (using Windows Explorer). The other is by using the "UNC address", which takes the form \\servername\foldername. I don't run SBS on Windows so I am not sure which is the preferred approach, but if one doesn't work, try the other. Or there are plenty others around here who know the answer. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85472 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Vortexbox is not simply server software -- it is a complete operating system, based on Fedora Linux. So installing Vortexbox means _replacing_ the Linux operating system on your NAS. As NAS OSs are usually very customized distros for that particular hardware, I would be surprised if you could put Vortexbox on it. Does the NAS even have an x86 CPU? I'm curious, are those the only files you have on the disk, or are there others? Because one of the annoying things about TinySBS is that you can't specify a particular music folder, so it searches the entire drive, which is a double whammy for people who have other data on the drive. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85874 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Power on time with USB drive
Thanks for running the test! Damn, 20 mins :( - as I feared. Is there any way of putting in feature requests? I would have thought stopping this running automatically would be a simple change. -- Sosh Sosh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41884 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85874 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Why it needs to do this I don't know, it is one thing that completely ruins the user experience of the Touch. [SlimDevices: Touch] Power on time with USB drive
Hi, Can anyone confirm how long the touch takes to power up (from off) when having a medium sized music collection on a connected USB drive? Does it have to re-index everything? But I recall that you can use the TOUCH wired with ethernet in your setup. How are you connecting the TOUCH. And keep in mind that if you set the TOUCH up with WIFI, just plugging in the ethernet cable is NOT enough to switch it to ethernet. Also, you do need the mysqueezebox.com credentials entered into your SbS settings, but with your server on 24/7, you NEVER need to switch from your own SqueezeBoxServer to mysqueezebox.com. Everything you can do with mysb.com can be done from your own SbS (including internet radio, etc.). And to confirm, these things are not typically "flaky". My stuff is all rock solid and can play for hours and hours, week after week without me doing anything other than hitting play. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85697 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Missing Albums using USB Touch Server
I have ripped my CDs via EAC and added no other info rather than keeping the cue file and the text document. I have seen info re tags but I dont know what it is or does. Do I need to be adding these to my files to sort this out? I never had the problem with my SB3 and using via Squeezebox server on my PC -- darfy darfy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44337 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85853 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Hi Toby, Thanks for your interest. Yes, I went into Network Settings last night and disabled the wireless connection so the Vaio PC is now only ethernet connected. This seemed to help but it took the Touch ages and several attempts to connect to My Music. Once connected the set up played music perfectly for a few hours EXCEPT that I noticed later that the 'Now Playing' screen had gone blank - no scrolling and no track information. Shutting down the Touch and restarting it then resulted in the first track information scrolling for a second or so and then back to no information. And 'Yes' I am getting the 'Cannot connect to My Squeezebox.com' message. I love the SQ but I wish the darned thing wasn't so flakey. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] No output after switching from mysqueezebox
Give this a try... Click "Advanced Settings" on SBS to open the Web UI. Click the "MySqueezebox.com" Tab. Check the value of the "Mysqueezebox.com Integration" field. Ensure it is set to "Disabled". Hope that Helps. -- Howlindawg Howlindawg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35871 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85788 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
