/lib/ld-linux.so.1 and /lib/libdl.so.1 are missing. After copying them
to /lib from some older installation, everything works.

The linux/config.h file has a problem that causes trouble for users running
the fb versions of the kernel, and who does compiles of modules etc.
/boot/config.h sets a symbol __CONFIG_FB_ or something like that (not on
Linux right now), but that one is never used in the linux/config.h.
So
kde2 port is on the way but far to be complete.
xawtv is still there.
And xawtv does not depend on KDE or GNOME.
Only problem with current xawtv is, that the resources file is not copied
to $HOME/.Xresouces or the system resources, so the program will not start
before this is done manually.
