causing the problem. I had copied them in to try and get the nvidia card
working after resume, but it turns out they aren't needed for the nvidia
card to work anyway.

I have a USB-connected brother printer/scanner MFC-7420, hooked up to a
desktop running xubuntu 18.04.1 The printer works but the scanner does

misunderstanding. Please note that the issue is not what is supported,
but rather the stupidity of upgrade design that wipes out existing
programs. There is absolutely no reason to not care enough about users

Yes, it works for Ubuntu ISO but not for everything. It didn't work for
a Windows 10 ISO.
The option from gnome-disk-utility works fine, however, the mounted ISO
does not appear on nautilus sidebar, it's hidden in Other Locations. But
that's a different issue.

Testing on 18.10 the "progressive dimming before blanking" doesn't reset
the color profile here. Could you trigger the bug and add the systemctl
log from around the time the bug manifest itself?

Sorry ignore comment #16 as the following line in /etc/ppp/ip-
up.d/usepeerdns will exit because of the '#!/bin/sh -e' shebang
line:
cp -Lp "$REALRESOLVCONF" "$REALRESOLVCONF.pppd-backup.$PPP_IFACE"
So my original suggestion of replacing the following line:
cp -a "$REALRESOLVCONF" "$REALRES

I can confirm the issue is the following line in /etc/ppp/ip-
up.d/usepeerdns as previously mentioned :
cp -a "$REALRESOLVCONF" "$REALRESOLVCONF.pppd-backup.$PPP_IFACE"
The variable expansion of that line is :
cp -a /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf
/run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf.
Correction the following line in /etc/ppp/ip-up.d/usepeerdns
probably should be changed from :
cp -a "$REALRESOLVCONF" "$REALRESOLVCONF.pppd-backup.$PPP_IFACE"
to:
cp -Lp "$REALRESOLVCONF" "$REALRESOLVCONF.pppd-backup.$PPP_IFACE"
chmod 644 "$REALRESOLVCONF.pppd-backup.$PPP_IFACE"
