Thanks for the hint! We were able to identify a user with a look in the core

Currently we do some test to verify the issue. If it is so we will modify the

this has bitten our project more in the past, I'm considering to move

Note, earlier I created an image with Alpine:edge with musl 1.1.20-r2

just a hopeful trail and error). I did not do any debugging on that one.

ensure that each part of the email will only be saved once.
This means that attachments & common parts of the body will only be
saved once inside the storage.
How achievable would this be with the current state of dovecot? Would it
even be worth doing?
Thanks,
Tim

Would it be acceptable to setgid the dovecot executable and change it's
group to "mail" (i.e., `chgrp mail dovecot` and `chmod g+s dovecot`)?
Would this pose some kind of security risk? Would this actualy do what
I want, or am I missing a bigger picture?
Kind regards,

Thanks Ben,
I'm using an Ubuntu Server OS (10.04) and it seems that the latest

Do you know if anyone has had any success getting a Dovecot 2 package on
this Ubuntu distro and how they went about it (Not comfortable compiling
sources at this point!!)?

e does not seem to be an option to specify the type of mechanism
within their interface so I think I have to offer PLAIN along with SSL.
Has anyone else had any experience of using the GMail import settings?

Ran the command and it works. However it doesnt keep the UID as the thunderbird

I have a box running Dovecot 1.x POP3 only server using mbox format. I want to
port the mail over to a Centos 6.3 box running a Dovecot 2.x POP3 only server
using Maildir format. The main thing I want to do is support

My next guess was the upstream data rate. My router states that the
upstream is 10x slower than downstream so I guess this is the culprit.
Time to move to a VPS methinks...

I enabled logging in 10-logging.conf, enabled ssl in 10-ssl.conf and put the
path in 10-mail.conf. Beside this I didn't change the defaults.
Thank you for help!

You're confusing the difference between authentication mechanism and password
scheme. http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Authentication
You want to use SHA1 as password scheme but still PLAIN mechanism.
