Set iTunes and Finder to do nothing and try manually importing by VO-Shift-M in
the track list and choosing Create AAC Version. If you're still getting 3k file
names, something's up with your iTunes configuration. A little extra work, but
this way you can spot any problems.

Nancy, have you used command y to look at attachments? I usually save mine out
instead of just looking at them, but I have used command y whenever Ij want to
look and not save. I did this in Mountain Lion as well. Command y is a
Macintosh command and not a VoiceOver command.

in the sidebar, or as a popup depending on how you have iTunes set up.
Then, choose the music radio button and uncheck anything you don't want sinked.

Dear List, I copied an mp3 album folder into the music section of the itunes
media folder, but when I select music from the pop up in itunes itself it does
not show up. The only tracks that show up are those that I played with itunes
from finder. Itunes shows lots of past played files

Under Mavericks, the escape key's functionality changed. You can press
Option-Escape key to actuate a standard escape key function. Also, VO has a
general escape key, when VO-Escape key is pressed. However, the VO sequence
doesn't always work for me, while the Option-Escape key,

This problem is now solved. Just for info, The mac that had the problems
wasn't mine but someone had enabled speakable items and that made the escape
key useless.
If you set the speakable items to off/disabled, the escape key works as
expected.
