Congrats, I expect your going to be very happy. There are a lot of beautiful
details on the Roadini frames (love the chainstay shaping, the stay ends at the
rear drop outs, the ball socket seat lug, the filed fork ends, etc etc etc),
and of course it will ride like a riv which in my experience h

Gotcha, Ted, thanks so much for the descriptive info. I ordered a
Roadini. Supporting Riv, and less stem and seat post showing, plus what I
take to be a more refined frame sold me. I have no doubt that the BMC
could be made to work; but, I felt better after talking with Riv that a

I don't think that is accurate. My BMC is much more aggressive/gumbyish

Absolutely Bill. I suppose that was what I wanted to know to begin with.
None of the three have any serious negative reviews, and they are all
great for what they are individually. For me it came down to the ability
to run single speed without a tensioner or ENO and the geometry of the BMC.
I also think the 650b Road Plus with disc brakes would be a lot of fun. I am
considering building up one of those frames if I can find reasonable priced
used parts. So probably four great options now.

The only bad thing about your initial comparison was that there wasn't a
'wrong' answer. Any of the three frames you were considering are really
nice. Now that you've chosen one of the three, the other two are still
nice decisions, so there will be nothing wrong with deciding you 'need'

Daniel: my Roadini came with a seat post, as it seems others did. I was
surprised to see the seatpost in there when I opened up the box. I thought I
read in one of Grant’s posts that seatposts would not be included. Maybe they
only had a certain amount.
Regarding tire clearance on the Roadini:
100% disagree, but depends on what sort of riding one is doing. Casual,
gravel/dirt? Sure I guess. Go fast? No way.

The Rivs will run fatter. I have 700x50 Cazaderos on my Joe Appaloosa and

As a gravel bike, the Joe is hard to beat -- if really fat tires are part
of what you want. Took me a while and bunch of tinkering to get it the fit
Jay- what Riv bikes are you comparing to? I like the idea of running fatter
tires with the Monstercross.

I have a v2 BMC Monster Cross. I've run it SS and fixed, and full road.
Compared to my Rivs, it feels like an aggressive road bike--much lower in
the front end. The versatility of semi-horizontal dropouts is fun. I run a

Thanks Jay. The monster cross is appealing also because of its reach/stack
numbers as well. I think it might be the way to go. I am still interested in
a Roadini but I love the idea to be able to go pure single speed.
Also, I have some sweet rim brake wheels waiting to be used!

Check the new geo for the BMC road plus. It's a disc frame that can run both
650B x 47 and 700c road wheels, I believe. Mike has brought the front end up.
Stack for the largest size is something like 650, if memory serves.

I have both, but I've only built up the BMC, which I really love. Others
have noted the giant headtube and long chaintstays on the Roadini, which

Finish wise, I'd give the Roadini the edge. The grilver is gorgeous in

Y'all gon make me crazy with this BMC stuff. There's an actual BMC bike company
which makes this ridiculous low-bar city bike which I like even though it's
ridiculous. Enjoy! (and try to say Black Mountain Cycles so we know what you're
