4 or 5 years ago on this list a couple of ppl mentioned seeing ads for credit

adverts showed 'K. Larkin' and 'J. Atkins'.. i think the in-house techno fan
angle might be right on there.. :)

2000-11-16 Thread Scott Vallance
Hey,
well the concensus on mp3.com spam was a definate go-ahead by all who voiced
an opinion - although it should be noted they were all mp3.com'ers themselves
:)

Its kind of topical because I've been inspired by mills and made a couple of
soundtracky type songs. They aren't for a real film however - just try to
imagine
one when you listen. The Miner is quite basical channel so feel free to debate
whether i've been too true to sound and unimagive or whether it is legitimately
inspired :)

Set in the 30th century, asteroid mining has become an essential cog in
continuation
of the resource consuming technocracy. Freelance miner's pilot their crafts
in the maelstrom of remote asteroid belts. AMC Headquarters spans the surface
of an entire planet, it's unfathomable power controlled by but a few. The tracks
form a score to a fictious movie. 'The Miner' guiding his craft through the
chaos sees a magnificient display of the light refracted through vapour trails.
'The Corporation' headquarter's sheer magnitude creates awe, it rests like a
huge monolith as crafts constantly come and go.

Compelling point! I am sure they would love to - Kevin Saunderson was saying
just late last year that it's his dream and will work towards that in the
next few years. But we all know how it goes in Hollywood - they go for a BT
if they want electronica. Also too often soundtracks are merely marketing
tools for record companies to break new acts or maintain an artist's profile
between albums, etc. How many good soundtracks have there been in recent
times? Mills said in an interview I read that he did Metropolis in part to
show what could be done. The only decent soundtrack I have heard this year
is The RZA's Ghost Dog which actually worked in with the film, or maybe even
Romeo Must Die, which had some of Timbaland's stuff on there and he has some
integrity.

think I have ever heard that version before (only heard the original

know of

I cought the commercial on Comedy Central of all places, but I also saw it

Very good comercial - I thinkn all of the opposers of the commercial should
see it first, and then gauge some reactions. It was nicely done.

Archives please

2000-11-16 Thread Mxyzptlk
I hate to ask this (as I know it's been done before), but ARE the
archives accessible and how do I do it? I'm writing a paper dealing with
modern electronic music culture and I really need to undergird my
tenuous points with some documentation from the email communities at
large. Bonus points for links to sites with 'official' UR v. Sony stuff.
Thanks a zillion. Please return to arguing about trance, Ae, house,
noise, etc. (or doze back off if you get this via 'ambient' :-)
