Sueno latino
Hi all, Just a few questions about the 'original' Sueno Latino - Sueno Latino release. If anyone has it I would appreciate a little more info on the label , tracks, release date etc I do have the Derrick May remix on a label which I think is called Solid Beat. Were there any other labels that did release the May remix? Also, I seem to be missing out on a few digest versions of 313. Anyone out there on digests notice big gaps in between them? Re: [313] distribution companies
So far, I have Watts and Nemesis sending me their lists (almost constantly it seems). I tried Unique in the UK, but found them to be really kind of stupid music-wise, b/c I had sent them a list of over 60 records and the guy emailed me back telling me that out of those 60, he only recognized 4 labels - I did not contact him back after that. I've filled out an online account form for Prime some time ago, but never received any type of response. I also emailed one of the main ppl at News Dist., Belgium, as a direct referral from Paul Edge, but have yet to hear back from her either. What do you need to do to get on these lists? I haven't tried Integrale yet - what about them? I have all the tax id, vendor's license - all that business-related stuff, so I don't understand why I can't get anywhere - if someone could help, that would be great. Thanx alot! Sueno latino
Also, I did hear a track that Jeff Mills played over here a few weeks ago that sounded vaguely like another remix of the Sueno Latino riff, this time it was very electronic sounding ala Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms and had a major breakdown and buildup in the middle section (which had a long ambient section) Anyone have any idea what this could be? He also played a version that sounded like Strings of the Strings before going to play the original. This just sounded like the major keyboard riff with no kick drums. Somehow I do have Strings of the Strings of life, but this sounded slightly different. How many versions of Strings of Life were recorded? Hope this brings things back on - 313 topic, whatever is being discussed currently. Cheers, A Zed

That's Kubik, who seem to be the main distributors for techno in France, handling GoodLife (check the ace new Kiko EP, 'Monique') as Paul says, but also Ozone, Scandium and, erm, some others. I don't have a web address to hand, but their phone number is +33 4 78023311 and fax is +33 4 78023313. there's also somewhere in france the name i can't remember but something like 'kupec' it's on alot of french techno sleeves such as goodlife releases so should be easy to find. paul www.innercity.co.uk

Re: [313] Ordering Records On-Line
the only store i've had good results with is groovetech. i've gotten about 49 out of 50 records i've ordered from them, and the longest it has taken is four days from the date of my order. i tried sonic groove once and they took two weeks from the date of my order to even send the records out; i got 4 of 8 i ordered. sonic groove took a week to ship my order and i got 2 out of 8 records i ordered. i tried smallfish (uk) once. when i placed my order they had two (very hard to find) copies of 'acid lp,' one of which i happily put in my cart. they sent me an order confirmation and told me the records would ship the next day. after 3 weeks went by i e-mailed them to see what the hell was going on. they had lost my order, and, of course, 'acid lp' was long gone by this time. doh! (by the way, anyone have a spare copy?) so anyway, i recommend groovetech. k Hi peeps Can someone give me some advice for buying records online, ie - which stores should i but from? i've bought from submerge before, but was wondering about other stores like groovetech, recordtime, sonic groove. i've seen listened to plenty of records from the groovetech site that i want to buy. how long does it take to receive the records once ordering how are they with postage? are there any other sites i should try? any help will be greatly appreciated. cheers nath - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Groovetech is my favorite place. The records you see online are usually in stock, and it only takes 4 or 5 days to get them. I'd stay away from Sonic Groove. They never update their catalog so a lot of their stuff is not in stock, and they're super slow. I once ordered 13 records, and got 2 in the mail about a month later. Satellite records (www.satelliterecords.com) is pretty good because they update their site with new releases every week. It usually takes about 2 weeks for an order to be received. Also try www.611records.com. Their catalog tends to be little out of date, but not as bad as Sonic Groove's. My experience has been about 1.5-2 weeks for delivery. I just stick to Groovetech for the most part, and fall back on 611 or Satellite if I'm looking for something a little older that Groovetech doesn't have. I have the D May mixes on a label called Creative, which looks to be a sub label of DFC. DFC is an Italian label that released some Sueno Latino stuff from 1990 to around 1992. Another domestic label released his work but the name escapes me. I think it has the word harbor in its name and the labels were red with black ink (if that helps jog someones memory). I have the domestic and DFC stuff but would need to dig for it to give more specifics so send your questions and I'll find the records and try to fill in the blanks for you. dK -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2001 12:50 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: [313] Sueno latino Hi all, Just a few questions about the 'original' Sueno Latino - Sueno Latino release. satellite is a good spot to listen to records, but the database that drives the site breaks all the time so ordering can be flaky and down right frustrating. give bent crayon a try, they email a weekly release list that you can skim. they used to let you pre order records in some cases, i fell off the wagon for a bit so i'm not sure if they still do that. always got what i ordered from them. dK -Original Message- From: Kevin Conrad [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2001 8:33 AM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [313] Ordering Records On-Line Groovetech is my favorite place. Re: [313] Ordering Records On-Line
If you're looking for that personal touch, I must speak up for my boys at the Record Collector in Iowa City: http://www.recordcollectorinc.com I've been shopping there since I was in high school and the electronic music was a few used Orb promo CDs for $4 [what the hell is this???], a My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult cassette, and about 1 row of dance vinyl. This place is responsible for the direction my life has taken - including love of house, techno and financial ruin. Presently, they have a relatively new website that may be a surprise to you if you haven't visited them in a while. At any rate, you'll find a bunch of older stuff, a great selection of non-electronic music if that's your thing, an exceedingly courteous and helpful staff and quite possibly a few records you won't find anywhere else. Most of the Detroit DJs who have passed through town have been unable to avoid the inertial nexus of this sordid villa, usually escaping with most of their earnings converted to vinyl (perhaps I'm exagerating a bit). :) Anyway, give 'em a shot. You won't be dissapointed. In the unlikely event you're ever in town while TP's spinning you may even catch an in-store performance. He has treated Iowa City very well over the years - home of his only US residency outside of Detroit. Re: [313] Ordering Records On-Line
I buy stuff online all the time, here's my preferences/dislikes: www.hardwax.com - Excellent, especially for new European stuff. And they'll send you their wee catalogues each month. www.formic.com - Really vast stocks of old and harder to find stuff, kept up to date and shipped quickly. Recommended. www.submerge.com - they're not answering emails now, though they are in the midst of massive overhauls. Obviously a place to try for 313 stuff. www.recordtime.com - the obvious place to try while submerge isn't in operation, in fact, last time I had word from submerge they said to give them a shot. Their database is a bit hit and miss, sometimes stuff is stocked and sometimes it isn't. Thay can be a bit slack with answering emails, too - are you reading Ani? :) www.recordcollectorinc.com - I've only tried them the once, but I'd definitely keep them in mind. Very friendly etc. www.bentcrayon.com - Judging by their database, these guys look like a veritable Aladdin's cave - they aren't, I've had about a 10% fill rate from them. I no longer bother trying. www.juno.com - fast as f**k, but then, they're in the same city as me. Best for recent releases, too. www.vinylunderground.force9.co.uk - really friendly, great for classics and newer stuff. www.htfr.com - quite lazy about checking their orders, I think - I often don't get any reply. Some of their prices are a bit steep, too. Though they are handy if you want to check the spec of mixers etc. www.mveshops.co.uk - umm, this is where I work, and orders placed here are often handled by me. The website's vastly over priced, as a rule, and features a tiny amount of the stock we actually have. Not really recommended for 313, even if I do say so myself ;) www.danceclassics.com - I tried to get the sonar 123 compilation of these guys recently (thanks again for the tip Armin) but they didn't have it in stock - anyone have it for sale? Or just the Sunlight Infiniti 12 on Peacefrog? Can't comment beyond that, but they have tons of classics at really ridiculously inflated prices. I'm sure I have missed out tons of others. Anyone wanting to buy second hand jazz, disco etc... well, that's another story entirely. Jonny.

one bad thing about have a contract like that is if you dont sell enough to pay off the pressing cost then you dont get paid and you have to pay the balance out of you pocket. i hate to recommend them b/c their site is kludgy and their service sucks, but http://www.htfr.co.uk/ sometimes gets some good stuff. they're a big shop in the uk who sell equipment and used records. they put their entire catalogue online, so if you've got something you're desperate for and check often you can sometimes find what you're after. i managed to get most of the early plus 8 and probe catalogues that i was missing there over the course of a few months last year, although for some records i paid a premium. their online customer service is non-existent - you're lucky to get a confirm email - but they do occasionally get some great stuff in. i JUST missed getting a copy of UR's revolution for change LP a few months ago; somebody beat me to the punch. brian -Original Message- From: Jonny McIntosh [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, April 13, 2001 6:28 AM To: Jonny McIntosh; nathan goode; 313 Subject: Re: [313] Ordering Records On-Line Actually, I messed up the URLs quite a bit there, so the following are the corrections: www.formic.de www.juno.co.uk www.danceclassics.co.uk - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Don't know anything about them as people, but I was curious, too, after the new niederflur releases were ALL I could find on the minus website. I ran across the second record (in a series of 3, I think?) last week, and it had some really subtle syncopated rhythms going on throughout. I was actually looking for more housey stuff at the time, so I almost took it off after the first track because it wasn't very exciting. But it kind of hypnotizes you if you let it play a few minutes... what I personally like about the tracks is that there really isn't a whole lot going on. The bass line is killer on both releases and very hypnotizing as stated above. Great to drop over something else or even use alone. if your into that very bass heavy minimal sound then I recommend picking them up. I like the first release a bit better myself since it has a few more subtle *deeper* qualities in it...Haven't heard #3 yet. Re: [313] vinyl: not for me; but mp3 cds are.
I can make a nice drawing of this but it's actually true I've tried certain setups where it came clear to me that resonace injected from the speakers react different to the needle through wood, metal or bricks. just make shure that the table you place you're 1200's on is heavy with lot's and lots of bricks But maybe you can tell me something about th'm different frequenties the quartz resonates to ? dmt - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Wednesday, April 11, 2001 12:33 PM Subject: Re: [313] vinyl: not for me; but mp3 cds are. needle resonance can add dynamics if mastered properly. 154 - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _ Do You Yahoo!? Re: [313] Sueno latino
Bushwacka remix? He two (or three?) Sueno Latino remixes last year. From your description, I'd say it's not the 'Tek' remixbut I haven't heard the other(s).

SNIP Little known factoid, Oakenfold was part of the original System 7 lineup, along with Steve Hillage, Miquette Giraudy, Alex Patterson, and Derrick May So maybe he'll spin techno But I doubt it. :) I don't know what they're referring to as the original System 7. The Fire Album from 1994 is Steve Hiliage with the following collaborators: Garnier, D. May, Youth (famous producer and remixer of The Orb), DJ Lewis Keough (also Orb affiliated if memory serves), The Drum Club (a three-piece early trance group), Greg Hunter (engineer for the Orb - later released material on his own - can't remember the name though - I believe it was on R+S/Apollo ...something about Ants) and Mickey Mann from the Pressure of Speach (whatever happened to him/them)? This album personally opened a lot of doors to the world of Derrick May, Marshall Jefferson, etc for me. Limited Addition which came out in support of this album had remixes from Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier and Marshall Jefferson to name a few - and There's a Derrick May track on the Time:Space compilation with assistance from Steve Hilliage. Linmer notes thank the Charlatans, which is the closest link I can find to Oakenfeld via the Happy Mondays. Proof that trance was not always a naughty word if you need it.
