Re: New 313-relevant stuff

2021-05-21 Thread Nathan Goode
Have always dug Strand’s stuff. I remember listening to their remix of
Radiohead’s Reckoner repeatedly. It was part of a remix comp I think? Just
found it again now on Soundcloud.
https://m.soundcloud.com/harbonder/reckoner-radiohead-remix-2
Agree that the latest release great. Can’t get enough of Idiom.

 Yo.

A couple of (313) things I thought people would want to know about.

 New Strand https://strand313.bandcamp.com/album/silicon

 Newish Russ Gabriel on Ferox.
https://russgabriel.bandcamp.com/album/off-centre. I like his other recent
stuff, but this is back on top form for me. Like he is drifting somewhere
in between his '00s less techy output (of which I am a huge admirer) and
 the recent return to techno.

Some Nuron releases I'd missed. https://nuron.bandcamp.com/music. There is
also a new 2x12" Likemind reissue that I need to pick up before it goes
 https://www.rubadub.co.uk/records/likemind-06.

Placid Angels - Touch the Sky
 https://figure-music.bandcamp.com/album/touch-the-earth (note, for some
reason the digital release is priced much higher at Bandcamp than other
stores for some reason I am struggling to fathom).

 Kyle Hall's MPC Dreams https://kylehall.bandcamp.com/album/mpc-dreams

Urban Tribe reissue (which is incredible)
 https://urbantribe.bandcamp.com/album/urban-tribe

Loads of other great stuff about presently, but this was the topical stuff
 I don't think I've seen mentioned.

 Cheers,

Re: Favorite Track

2021-04-18 Thread Nathan Goode
Yeah this is a VERY hard question. I think I’ll choose the one track that
turned me onto this music, because if not for this, I may have totally missed
out on a load of great music. It was - Intellitronic - Pixel.

First heard it on radio in Adelaide, Australia on the China Syndrome show which
was hosted by Offworld Records’ Jason Martin and Tim Jackiw at the time.

Re: Book of Drexciya

I got my book quite a few months back. Pretty sure I only got it then as I’d
commented on a post on Facebook asking when it was coming out as I saw Tresor
were selling some, but I’d donated on the Indigogo thingy.

I received it from a person in Sydney (I’m in Adelaide) who seemed to be
involved with Tresor. I’d ordered the hardback, but received the softcover.

So long story short, yes :-)

2014-01-05 Thread Nathan Goode
Talking of Suburban Knight I came across this mix on YouTube
http://youtu.be/Ud41C8Mhml0
I remember recording the audio from the groovetech site but didn't get all of
it, so glad I found it. So many great tracks on here. There are a couple I
don't know which might get me thrown off 313 ;-) but I'd be grateful if anyone
could tell me what is playing at 8.39 (sounds very Red Planet/UR)and also
starting at 1.39.50. I'm sure they are easy for you knowledgable folk.

Hi all

Just sitting here listening to DW Endow. Would be close to my favourite
record. Just so amazing.

Did Dave Whiteside put out any other music? And what is he up to these days?

I sold most of my record collection a few years back (which I regret now),
but glad I held onto this one.

Hi all

Firstly, really sad to hear of a fellow 313 list member¹s passing, so my
thoughts are with Nick¹s friends and family at this time.

This brings me to a question I¹ve been meaning to ask for ages, so I¹m sorry
if the timing is a bit Œoff¹. I remember about 10 years or maybe more back,
I used to chat to a guy named Nick on 313. He was from the UK, and also went
by the name DJ Pacific at one time. Not sure if this is the same Nick?

Can anybody advise?

Once again, really sad to hear this news.

(313) Norm Talley - The Mystic EP - How much???

2010-03-16 Thread Nathan Goode
Hi all

Just after some advice. Someone has offered to purchase my copy of the above
record via Discogs, but after looking there & on gemm.com there are no other
copies that are selling, so my question is, how much is this record worth? I
don't want to rip the guy off by asking too much, but don't want to rip
myself off at the same time by asking not enough.

Also, I'm going to be selling my collection on discogs, but before I do, if
anyone wants to browse my collection and make me an offer on anything, hit
me off list. Lots of Detroit & Chicago goodies.

Hope the other guys don't mind me chipping in, but I might as well jump on
this too. I host a weekly show in Australia, "The Outer Limits" on Radio

Due to distance & postage, mp3s are fine for me & as Kent & JC have said,
I'll listen to all tracks, and most probably play them all.

(313) New Rick Wade & shamless plug

2007-05-07 Thread Nathan

Hey folks

Don't think it's been mentioned, but Rick Wade has a new ep coming out on
Yore Records, Andy Vaz's new label, "Night Of The Living Deep". Now I'm
probably biased, because I love anything Rick does, but it's a great record.
Especially digging "Shamballa".

Which brings me to the plug. I've got a radio show here in Adelaide,
Australia called "The Deep End" and I'll be playing some of the tracks off
this record on this weeks show.

Check out my page below for recent playlist details, so you know what to
expect. Any feedback welcome and if any of you producers out there want to
send me your tracks, I'll be more than happy to play them on the show.

Oh, and I'll be giving away a free copy of the Rick Wade record on this
weeks show.

Anyhoo, back to lurking

"Love's Got Me High" - Seven Grand Housing Authority (Terrence Parker).
I heard somewhere that the vocal is a sample from a stand up comedy routine

from.

Oh, can anyone please tell me the track that comes in @ 10.52 - straight

waste

This post is for everyone having a cry baby about DEMF

   ..

Stacey Pullen came to play in Wellington NZ the other week.

By some sheer accident I ended up making a one way 16 hour
road trip to see him play, and a flight home at 8am.

A good friend also flew in from Sydney for the occasion so
it was really cool to be connected by Techno.

Mostly I just wanted to say to the list that in some places in
the world we rarely get to hear Techno. New Zealand has had
three US producers visit in the last two years.

You may recall me writing in about Carl Craig last year.

I go bug for Techno especially Detroit styles. It is the only
music

that makes me dance like "Sven" hugs or no hugs. It's the only
music that motivates me to dance at all these days.

Stacey was just brilliant, and I don't care for the politics.

He got on the decks at 2am and was still playing when I had to get
to the airport at 7am. It was a sonic inspiration for me .. and

was

twice as cool cause the dance floor was full .. unlike Carl Craig.

wah.

While I can understand the frustrations of the DEMF line up .. I

think

you need to look at the greater context of what the scene is able

to

support.

New Zealand has small population, and so a very small Techno
scene.

Our ability to foster our own scene, let alone have events or

festivals

that feature Techno artists is very very limited.

On a global scale Techno is still a very underground sound. Over

here

where I am sitting . the DEMF does heaps to put Techno on the Map.

Locally .. I would probably be upset as well. However the

opportunity

still remains to use the focus on the DEMF to raise the awareness

of

the 313 sound .. and it's affiliations.

I think the Line up is that evil balance between commercial and

true.

However on any given day it's a line up I would very much like to

see,

and

from a global perspective I think its a very interesting

representation of

how far the influences of Detroit music have traveled.

I think Detroit heads have a lot of heritage to be proud of, and

while

there

is obviously a strong local scene that is looking for

representation.

I think

you have to appreciate that due to the musical foundations of

Detroit

many people from around the world now share in the positive

influence.

Somehow in the face of all the commercial dance scenes around the

world

Techno has managed to hold onto it's integrity. The artists
listed

are by no

means heavy hitters in the commercial dance scene. They are a

fairly

gritty

bunch of left field innovators of electronic sounds.

For all the people that stand in Hart Plaza .. there are as many

people all

around the world who bring their attention to the goings on in

Detroit.

Promotion is the evil brother of Appreciation, and by all accounts

the

DEMF

has been a constant battle from day one.

I just want to send love and respect to the Festival and remind

everyone

having issues with the event, that some of us are still struggling

to

hear

any sort of Techno once a year.

DEMF does bring global attention. We are listening out here on
the

edge.

actually, here's a quote:

"Love Saves The Day was originally going to run from 1970-2000, but ended up
surging past any kind of reasonable word limit by 1980."

peeps that he's interviewed for the next book include armando, juan atkins,

his releases as Abicah Soul on rushhour "Chuckie's Turn/Lacumba" & the one

hello list!

dug this record out recently, which i bought for next to nuthin' in a
sale:

http://www.discogs.com/release/10118

and i am luvin' the second track on the b-side, which reminds me of
'mystery of love', (also goes great with round two 'new day'). does anyone
have any info on this crew? see they have done stuff under another alias
on moods & grooves (one rated 5/5 on discogs). i need to get more house
records like the reel estate release.

also, i see their names mentioned here often, but do not own any of their
productions - henrik schwarz (sic) and omar s. have listened to some
online clips, but they are not a good guide. what would be considered
essential output by these two?

so check it out. especially the other aussies on this list, the prices
compared to what we have to pay over here - it's more than 1/2 price less
than what we get charged at the records stores here, and that's including

like "Here comes the sun, here comes the light, here comes the day..." which
I asked on 313 to ID & Norm told me (if I can remember) that it's a track by

(313) Remix of Burujha? & track ID

2003-01-13 Thread nathan goode
Hi all

I was listening to mix 499 "Into The Future" by Boo Williams on
DeepHousePage
http://www.deephousepage.com/boow.ram.

The first track sounded like a remix of Octave One's Burujha. Now, I could
be way off, but does anyone know if it is a remix, and by whom, or if not,
what the track
is?

Secondly, the second track has the following male lyrics. Well it obviously
has
more, but these are the only ones I can really hear properly :)

"cause where i, i come from, there aint no foolin' around.
so you're time has come, what you saying now?
i can be a player if it's games that you want.
i can be your lover if it's love that you want.
taking time to decide, opportunity.
, insanity, takes a hold of your hand(or head?), leaving you
standing around.
take to long like we said. what's going down?
I'm a man of the real, I'm a man of the real deal.
I'm in love with the real, I'm in love with the real deal."

Oh, and finally, if anyone could ID the third track too, which sounds like
it might be in spanish maybe, that would be wonderful.

thanks a bunch!!

basically any of their remixes are always deep, groovy afairs.

hip-hop.

Re: (313) blaze

2003-01-11 Thread nathan goode
I'm pretty much impressed by anything they've done.

"Spiritually Speaking" on Slip & Slide, their latest album is very nice,
kind of "Earth, Wind & Fire" sounding at times. Don't have any of their
other albums, but I am searching for them.

Although I must admit whenever I see something by Blaze, I pretty much pick
it up.
