4 x 200g maybe ?
add 200g for packing and you'll be kool and the gang.

by my calculations that's 1kg total weight.

 Hi,

does anyone knows the weight of a packet with 4 12 records?
I need to know this, because then I can calculate the shipping costs of my
 packet.

 Thanks,
 Maarten

I just bought some of these at Home Depot for $12.00 each.

The shelves are fully adjustable and are stackable. They are
simple to put together, they look cool, have a lifetime warranty
(if that matters), and in my opinion are a great deal for the
 money.

The records stick out a little bit but I find it easier to flip
 through them.

Are they very collectable though? You see pretty much all of the Axis
back catalogue around in quite a few shops.

I'd suggest:

HM: Tranquiliser EP
HM: Drama EP
Final Cut w/ True Faith: Take Me Away (US Paragon, UK Network)
Dark Matter: The Subjects (features quite rude remixes by Mills,
relatively hard to find)
Every Dog Has Its Day vol 1 (which I missed out on... drat!)
Axis 009A (the black/gold one with Spider Formation on it)

With Mills I actually find it quite hard to think of things he's done
that are particularly hard to find. He's pretty good at keeping things
in print, I guess!

Here you go.

Streetdate: 20.01.2003
Artist: V/A
Title: AKTION MEKANIK (Selected By Terence Fixmer)
Format: CD / LP
Label: Music Man
MMCD/LP 021

Pressrelease

Featuring classic 'EBM' (electronic body music) and Nu-Beat tracks from
Nitzer Ebb, The Normal, Fad Gadget, Front 242, Crash Course In Science,
Skinny Puppy, DAF, Liaisons Dangereuses and a new exclusive track from
compiler (and Gigolo) Terence Fixmer, Aktion Mekanik brings together long
lost/forgotten classics from the 80's Belgian Nu-Beat scene, whilst
highlighting their influence on modern electronic composition.

With tracks such as The Normal's 'Warm Leatherette' being covered by Chicks
On Speed or bootlegged by Richard X and DJ Hell covering No More's 'Suicide
Commando' and making the second half of his recent
'Electronicbody-housemusic' mix CD a homage to old and new versions of
'EBM', 'Aktion Mekanik' is a timely reminder of how we used to play.

One such current producer who certainly used to play is Planete Rouge man,
Terence Fixmer who has been fusing EBM with modern techno ever since
'Electrostatic' launched his life as a Gigolo in the late 90s. Born in
Lille, on the Northern borders of Belgium it was at the tender age of 15
that Fixmer fell headfirst into the burgeoning EBM scene just across the
border, where himself and fellow friends at Ghent's Music Man label
fanatically followed bands such as Front 242, Klinik, DAF and Nitzer Ebb and
frequented Belgian clubs such as Boccaccio and Skyline.

I made this compilation as a personal journey and to remember the well
respected electronic artists which are in someway our modern techno
forefathers, states Fixmer. I made it just because this is the music of my
heart and nothing to do with any 80s trend.

With Fixmer having recently remixed Nitzer Ebb's classic 'Let Your Body
Learn for Novamute and now currently working with their singer Douglas
MacCarthy on a new project, Aktion Mekanik neatly brings his EBM adventure
full circle. Furthermore, look out next year for Crash Course In Science's
never before released only album from the early 80's vaults set for a debut
airing on Music Man some 20 years later...!

Terence Fixmer plays live at ElectrooVoodoo, Liverpool on December 13th.

More info: www.terencefixmer.com http://www.terencefixmer.com/

Track By Track info:

Nitzer Ebb - Warsaw Ghetto: Nitzer Ebb, (strongly influenced by DAF) were,
alongside Front 242, at the forefront of the EBM sound in the late 80s, with
classics like Let Your Body Learn Join in The Chant. Warsaw Ghetto,
taken from their second twelve inch (1985) is a more obscure track by them.

Crash Course In Science - Cardboard Lamb : Hailing all the way from
Philadelphia, CCIS, only released one twelve inch from which this track is
taken! Numerous covers have followed (check Pete Tong's essential anthem
BUCCIBAG), but here in it's original glory.

No More - Suicide Commando: Indie Classic from 1981, got remixed by DJ Hell
Echopark in 1998 as a taster for Hell's Munich Machine album.

The Normal - Warm Leatherette: Daniel Miller's classic, Mute records first
releaseIt was in l978, right after Punk had started. The music at the
time was quite unusual -- apart from a few groups like Kraftwerk.

Fad Gadget - Coïtus Interruptus: Taken from Fad Gadget's first album
Fireside Favourites, this sets a benchmark for further Fad Gadget anthems
like Ladyshave Collapsing New People!

The Klinik - Hours + Hours: Belgian electronic duo THE KLINIK started out in
1984, focusing their early efforts on the international home-taping
circuit. But through their releases and remarkable live-gigs, which blend
their haunting music with splendid and intriguing video footage, the twosome
(Dirk IVENS - Voices and Marc VERHAEGHEN - Electronics) gradually built up a
steady following and a reputation that stretched beyond the confinement of
the Living room studio. Hours + Hours is taken from their first album
Sabotage (1985).

Daf - Verschwende Deine Junged: The core of DAF are Gabi Delgado-Lopez and
Robert Gorl. They met in Dusseldorf during the punk movement in 1977 whilst
Gabi was singing in local punk bands and Robert finishing his formal musical
training. They went on to release seminal tracks like Der Mussolini
Brothers... track, taken from 1981 album Gold Und Liebe.

The Invincible Limit - Push!: First there was Invisible Limits as a band,
Thomas Lüdke being a member, programming the sequences to such classics as
Love is a Kind of Mystery and Devil Dance. Thomas then left, chose
Invincible Limit as his new solo project, and made Push in 1986 (Last Chance
Records).

Crash Course In Science - Flying Turns: Hailing all the way from
Philadelphia, CCIS, only released one twelve inch from which this track is
taken! The flip from the one previously mentioned.

Liaisons Dangereuses - Mystere Dans Le Brouillard: Founded by Beate Bartel
Chris Haas in 1981, releasing onlycassettes ... this track was taken from a
7inch single released on Mute

RS did have something to do with a label Mike Dred (Kosmik Kommando) set
up
in the early 90's but unfortunately I forget its name. There were a
series
of several EPs with very minimal artwork, just a plain label.

 caps on?

I found some mysterious 313-related items in my local record shop that I
thought some of you guys might be interested in and might be able to shed
 some light on.

One is a 12 with a plain red label with TB-606 EP handwritten on it
(this
is presumably a combination of TR-606 and TB-303, or a mistake). There
are 6 tracks I think of rather good, techno made entirely with a 303 and a
 606. I guess what it most reminds me of is some of the early Rephlex stuff
 like Universal Indicator.

But what's interesting is that the guy assures me that it's a
test-pressing
done by the R S label, although he doesn't know who's responsible for
the
music. I can find no evidence of any such thing being ever released by R
S, so is he wrong or is this something that never made it to a full
release,
 do you think?

Slightly more straightforward are two early Metroplex releases. One is an
unmarked white label bearing the handwritten legend 'Metroplex', and it
certainly sounds like something that would genuinely be a Metroplex
release.
It also says Olly on it - but I think that's just the guy who owned it -
and has Passion Records stamped on it, which I assume is the shop that
 originally sold it.

The other is a copy of Shake's 5% Solution on Metroplex, also featuring
3
other tracks: Mindless Entertainment, Day of Reckoning, and My Name
Is
Binky. Can anyone advise me as to whether this is at all rare or
valuable?
If not, it's still a very nice, and frankly insane-sounding, release.

Thanks in advance if anyone can supply any information! I'd particularly
like to find what the so-called R S thing might be.

 Robin Howells

Also, anyone know about the background of Detroit neo-soul artist Lathun on

Derrick¹s
own club mix, that originally appeared on the Altitude double pack in
April
1992, together with other remixes and a vocal remix featuring Ultra Nate.

 2. Mysterious Traveller Groovy Intent Mix This is a System 7 remix of
one
of the tracks we made with Derrick for the 1994 System 7 album Fire and
Water. This remix gives the track a more housey feel, while retaining all
 of
the original parts. We did the remix in February 2002.

 3. Big Sky City - Mayday Mix This was a big track for System 7 and was
the
result of our collaboration with Derrick in 1995 for the Power of Seven
album. This is the original version and is Derrick¹s own mix.

 4. Icon Montage Mix (Rhythim is Rhythim) This is one of Derrick¹s own
tracks, and it was made in 1992, after his first collaborations with
System
 7. This version originally appeared on the vinyl-only compilation Virtual
Sex in 1993 and has never been released on CD before. We love it and feel
 it
fits really well with the System 7 tracks. Icon has been licensed from
Derrick¹s label Transmat and was released under Derrick¹s artist name
 Rhythim is Rhythim..

 5. Prototype 1 Electron Mix This track was originally an early idea in
 our
sessions with Derrick in 1990 that never got completed and up to now has
never been released. We always intended to make a final version and we
finally managed it in February 2002. This mix is a bit electro-orientated
and manages to feature really well Derrick¹s original live keyboards.

 6. Fractal Liaison This short piece featuring just Derrick¹s keyboard and
Steve¹s guitar was taken from jam recorded directly to DAT in the 1990
sessions. This originally appeared on the first System 7 album, released
 1991.

 7. Mysterious Traveller Fire Mix This is the original version of the
 track
Mysterious Traveller that appeared on the Fire Album one half of System
7¹s 1994 dual album Fire and Water.

 8. Big Sky City Above the Clouds Mix This remix, the third of the three
new ones we made in Feb 2002, goes for a chunkier, more solid rhythmic
feel
coupled with a dreamy approach the keyboards, including both Derrick¹s
original parts and some new parts from Miquette.

 9. E-Merge In a way balancing the inclusion of Derrick¹s own track Icon,
we
have included one wholly new System 7 track that fits in with the overall
picture. A chunky groove underpinning some oddly random sequenced
 arpeggios.

 10. Overview A softer more moody piece featuring Derrick¹s bendy
keyboards
and some floating lead guitar from Steve. This is the original version
from
 the Fire album (1994).

Sven's a weird one. He definately has the capacity for trance (duh- the

spends more time waving his hands than mixing records.

I will see and hear him this coming friday in Amsterdam
So i will let you know about the waving in the air:-) but i
must say the times that i have heard him spin he blew me
of my feet with some amazing techno...heard him spin for
six hours at Time Warp in Germany last year...best set
i've heard for ages, the whole set was a perfect build-up
from start to finish...20.000 people went completly nuts!!
Got the whole set at home for those interessted.

Okay , back to obscure techno business now..

What's kind of sad about all
the 80s electronic pop stuff (except for the first batch of releases in
this vein and Felix and Miss Kittin's) is that after the fad has
thoroughly been explore will anyone want to hear this stuff or will it
sound very dated - like oh that is so 80s revival from 2001-02?

i agree totally. The thing that bothers me about all this electro just
blowing up right now is that it *is* just a fad. *sigh* i just don't
know.
I don't mind dj's bringing in some of the older stuff into their sets, but
now everybody and their brother is moving to produce electro tracks. In
all
honesty, i have to agree with richie on this one; as much fun as it is to
explore older ideas, they are still just older ideas. we're practically
digging up a rotting dead horse for one last kick in the nuts. I'm still
 looking to see what's next.

Well, I really like the album, although it took a few plays. I think the
new
single, 'Nothing At All' is about the weakest track on there though
(rubbish
mixes too), so try not to write it off because of that. He's got the
former
singer from The Aloof doing vocals on most of the tracks and Carl Finlow
(SCSI/20:20/Voicestealer etc) had some input too. Only 3 or 4 of the
tracks
could be said to be actual electropop anyway, as opposed to pop, which is
a
description he's comfortable with. I've interviewed him for the Slut (next
issue) about it and he said one track was kind of a personal tribute to
Visage. He's wound up Planetary Assault Systems permanently now, though.

must endure the invalid as a objective fragment in the existence of
mankind. Effortlessly, time passes over and onto, without you and without

Re: [313] every dog vol 3

2002-03-11 Thread innercity records
that's ($16.99) the price in usa. obviously by the time it's shipped
over the uk distributors need their profit and us shops need ours.
we're selling them at £19.99 if anyone still needs a copy.
we're probably joint cheapest in uk as usual.

£8.95 for imports in manchester? come to leeds it's
between £7.25 - £7.95 and attitude free.

now available at bent crayon:

MILLSART: Every Dog Has Its Day Vol. 3 2x12 (AXIS). In time, all
wrongdoings are eligible for correction. Even in the eye of a storm, we
must endure the invalid as a objective fragment in the existence of
mankind. Effortlessly, time passes over and onto, without you and without
us. On it, we mark the acceptance of the new with the chance to begin again
and give away the hand of the past, free of unadmissibles. Those who are
punctual are thieves of time. Robbing from reserves of time that have been
designated for nothing. In time, time tells truths or at least the truths
you've been waiting for. Time is the oldest living thing we own. Its rate
of speed is constant and in all, infinite. Some never have enough time,
which are those people that are quick to recognize those who waste it. Is
time or is it not? It has been said that seconds, minutes, hours, days,
weeks, months, years, decades and centuries are just about all the average
human can imagine and plan for. Millsart believes not. All that is needed
to calculate is that 'one of these days is none of these days'. Now that
you've read this, please be advised that Every Dog Has Its Day.

$16.99 is roughly £12

sure beats £20 that some shops are looking for!

Thanks to those who responded to my previous question about Charles
Siegling. I heard him on Saturday and was surprised at just how good a DJ
he is. I was half expecting that he has a bigger reputation as a producer
because he's not too hot on the decks but I was pleasently surprised.
Paul at Innercity was spot on with this message -

 he's wicked. 3 deck dj.
top selection of minimal, tuff techno
throws in a few classics and some electro
 too. he knows his stuff

I've not heard anyone work three decks that well for quite a while. The
set he played on Saturday was up there with the best that I've heard. The
techno never got too minimal as it was nicely broken up with a piece of
vocal, some electro or a booty house track (DJ Deon Shake That Shit- not
sure if that's the title but you know what I mean.)
Yup, twas a fine performance. So to all you techno lovers that have never
heard this man DJ, all I can say is that you're missing out. Go and hear
 him... now!

there's probably gonna be guest listers who
don't turn up by the 11pm deadline so stick
around if the club is full earlier and ask the

I can't listen to sets on websites due to no sound at work. Any info would

Re: [313] DEMF or what?

2002-02-12 Thread innercity records
isn't demf meant to be an electronic music festival
in detroit? not a purely detroit techno festival.

so what if the likes of jules etc play. i'm sure you'll
still get the usual detroit suspects playing at various
stages and after parties.

it's just like tribal gathering in uk a few years back.
you had the likes of faithless, sasha, pete tong and
co taking over 2 or 3 tents. even a happy hardcore
tent. but there was also the detroit techno tent, a tent
specially put up for kraftwerk, a tent for weatherall
to play dub all day to 3 people, a tent for hard euro
techno with sven + dave clarke, a chill out tent etc...

if you don't like who's on one stage then simply move
away and find something you do like. doesn't paul oakenfold
play in detroit at motor? and fills it everytime. this shows
that there's obviously more to detroit than snobby techno heads
just like there's more to the uk than trance and drum n bass.
just find what you like and leave others to enjoy what they like.

as for extortionate food vendors. it's been the same at
every music event since time began.

lighten up, it's free isn't it? you really don't appreciate how
lucky you are having something like that in your home town.

paul

 dear all,

the recent about the members thread, along with the comments about the
state of the UK techno clubs made me think that perhaps it might be cool
if
we held a 313 gathering/party (in the UK, London perhaps?) sometime this
year. all list members would be welcome of course, tho i realise the
idea's
most likely to appeal to those of us who are based in the UK and Europe.

i'm figuring we'd need an ok-sized venue, a bar or small club, with djing
and live-sets from list members - we seem to have plenty of djs and
 producers on here!

the Lowlands list held something similar back in October 2000 - some
 pictures here:

http://technotourist.org/modules.php?set_albumName=album04op=modloadname=G
alleryfile=indexinclude=view_album.php.

any thoughts? anyone out there? am i having a 313 gathering on my own,
down the pub, with a pint of guinness and a packet of pork scratchings,
and
 Relics on my walkman?

Re: [313] about the members

2002-02-02 Thread innercity records
time for the fat boys..

name : paul
also known as that gorgeous 'chunky' slap head from innercity.
age : 31
born : leeds
lived in cyprus, germany and southern england
before settling again in leeds many years ago.
work : run yorkshire's finest.

djing since 1989 but introduced to electronic music
at a very early age via my father's obsession with
kraftwerk, tangerine dream, brian eno etc and him
building his own synths. i'm still forced to listen to
his music now and he's 55. a true pioneer. though
he's a bit obsessed with trance music.

music - yazoo, human league, depeche mode, simple minds
to the current nu wave obsession - adult, gigolos, lazergun, bpitch etc.
into pretty much all techno styles from planet e to downwards.
bit of a booty/ghetto obsession too.

collection - close to 10,000 at one point though more like 1000 now.
had to make room for my 2 kids.
1 record i never got and still desperately want is
MANTRAX on rs records, only released as promo i think.
8 years now trying to get this record. someone must have it?

today's favourites.
that detrechno double pack that i never remember the name of that
includes 'back to the future' and 'sole waves'. best electro ever.
apart from maybe - mole people's luv luv lik lik
ron trent - altered states, never get bored of that record.
morgan - flowerchild, always gets the floor moving
surgeon/regis - british murder boys. best downwards yet.
new gary martin on teknotika, forgot title.
theo parish - dirty rhodes. f***in awesome.
to say i run a record shop i'm very poor remembering titles!

memorable moments
- first time i went to leeds' Warehouse in 89. i lost my job 3 months
later!, life changing.
jeff mills @ orbit in 93. life changing again.
tribal gathering with kraftwerk and the detroit tent. (terence
parker dropping 'ring my bell' at 5 in the afternoon and watching
the tent empty was pretty funny) bumping into richie hawtin in
the happy hardcore tent at tribal was a shock too.
dj bone coming to play for us in leeds to around 30 people 2 years
ago and playing the best detroit set i ever heard. UK 313'ers where
were you?
best ever would have to be getting off with miss kitten at orbit though
last year, hang on, that didn't actually happen. bugger.

loves
 - my girlfriend and 2 kids.
 - hong kong cinema, total madness.
also partial to watching sweaty half naked teenage girls losing it on the
dancefloor to fierce techno.

hates
- dj's who feel the need to take you on a journey - shut up
garnier and just play the bloody records.
people who take this all too seriously. it's dance music for fuck's
sake. have fun.

biggest regret - not buying studio equipment in 92 and going on holiday
to spain instead and blowing all my money.

313 - about 2 years on and off. tend to say stupid things without thinking
and get flamed for days, usually after a few drinks.

have a good weekend.
paul

  Age: about 31, Taurus

   Born: Utrecht, the Netherlands

   Living in: Utrecht

Work: IT-Specialist at ING Barings Bank HQ, Amsterdam

NonWork: Chief Extreme Sonic Experimentations Officer for
TechnoTourist.org, producing under the DeTour monicker with John C.(non

DJing: since 1990. Basically I started out playing anything hard and
powerful (but no hardcore / gabba), but about 6 years ago narowwed that
down
to just techno, but still hard. But I also like US Garage, Main Street,
GiantStep and the deep Naked Music type records, and of course the Detroit
stuff. Every once in a while I get to play those records as well. People
who
know me as a techno DJ are always very surprised to learn that I like
soulful music as well and not just DrumCodes!

313: Since sept 94, on and off

Record collection: once upon a time 4000, but at one morning I woke up
with a deep hate against any record that has a drumroll, so I about sold
all
of those. Now it's about 2-3000 pcs.

Most memorable moments: too many! Inner City @ DEMF, Mike Grant @ Tresor
Berlin, hearing Derrick May for the very first time in the Amsterdam RoXY,
Sven Vath at OneOff (RoXY Amsterdam), getting a tour through the 2030
building by MadMike himself, hanging out with the Slam/Soma posse at last
years 5 Days Off Amsterdam, Laurent Garnier Live at last year's Hugo
D'Night, hearing your record played by another DJ and watch the crowd go

our local techno club on saturday there were nearly as many
girls as boys ages 16 to 40+ wearing anything from t shirt and
jeans to ladies in dinner dresses. the music was deep house
to electro and hard funky techno.
what got played at tribal sessions on friday? prog house for 8 hours.

to some of the london people who've reseponded to this.
would you still be saying the same if he'd chosen tribal sessions
and gatecrasher?

it's total bollocks but after thinking last night i'm still gonna
have to go check out his new (not)techno style. he must've
bought a whole new collection of records recently, that's all i'm saying.

That's what I was trying to raise. That depends on the nature of 'techno'
clubs in the UK. There are some great techno clubs in the UK, I am sure,
with The End, etc and they are important. But we have had the same things
here with techno clubs - they become very hard, they become very
male-centric, everyone even wears the same kind of clothes, it's an
intimidating enviroment maybe and it's predictable, which is not a
'techno'
attribute. The DJs are then expected to play a certain kind of techno. I
have seen that happen here as well. Here techno clubs can be very Anglo,
too. I am not saying this doesn't happen to house clubs, but there is a
great diversity of people, across the gender and sexual spectrum, even
across the ethnic spectrum. What is stopping a techno diehard going to
Fabric, really? That is another question you have to ask. It could be as
simple as Mills wanting to break down barriers and switch things up a
little. He's always been 10 steps ahead of us. There is probably an
 interesting reason behind it.

What IS a 'House Club' anyway? Is it's 'housiness' defined by size,
style(s)
of music which prevail there, or just the fact that it's a sort of
generic
night club, frequented by young(ish) people ... with a preference for
'dance
music' (another problematic term) as opposed to thrash metal (or
something.)

What I'm getting at is that I fail to see what material difference will
be
made to Mr Mills' prediliction to play in any particular type of club by
any
such 'pronouncement' (if he did indeed make it) that he will now, only
play
 in 'House Clubs'.

Business as usual then Jeff, great.

so why is he now restricting himself to house clubs?

why are we restricting clubs to one style or the other?

this is the first I've heard of Jeff 's announcement, but I'm sure
he'd shake things up no matter what the label hanging outside the
 club.

[313] jeff mills stars again

2002-01-27 Thread innercity records
we just heard that jeff's quitting (quit?) techno and
in future will only play house clubs with dates
this year at fabric and the god awful tribal sessions
in manchester.

he's totally blown out the uk's most important clubs
orbit, lost, slam and atomic jam after constant assurances
that he'd be touring uk this year.

if he feels the need to take his sound to another new
audience then fair play but to turn his back on what
he's best known for really beggars belief.

i for one won't be putting on me best shiny shoes and
sparkly shirt and paying £20 to see him while in the
company of a bunch of clueless fashion victims who
are probably in the club only to prance around to
some overrated, under skilled + massively overpaid
superstar tech dj.

after 3 years of not playing the uk due to his bollocks
immigraion excuse this is how he repays his long time
fans and followers who've spent countless money on
his records and hours queing in the rain to go hear
him spin.

i don't think i'd actually be as angry over any other dj
doing this which just shows the kind of admiration this
guy has over here and i'm sure it'll be the same for
many others.

simple reply of course is for all us to turn our back
to him and stop buying his music and going to his
club dates. it works both ways.

pure arrogance (again)

you misunderstood me.
i dont class him with the overpaid etc. as i personally
feel he's been in a league of his own for years with
nobody even now able to touch him on a good night.

and it would be nice for him to give us the chance
to progress with him at the clubs we all love and
have seen him rock many times. not in some super
money club full of people who really won't understand
what he's actually doing.

if he wasn't so far up his own arse as to believe his
music isn't techno anymore then maybe we'd all get
this chance.

wasn't he the one who said
techno is whatever you want it to be..

so why is he now restricting himself to house clubs?

off his rocker
but then as he explained himself, I gradually understood.

Frankly, I believe its up to his audience to appreciate the switcher-roo
he is contemplating and perhaps progress along with him. Those I think
are the true believers of this talent. Its unfair to carelessly lump
Jeff in the 'overrated, under skilled + massively over paid superstar dj
category, if not tech. Looking at his career, he has worked his butt
off (ever noticed how skinny the man is?) to arrive at his current
prestige. His schedule is non-f***ing stop. In observing him at Musik,
I've come to the conclusion that this man is just amazing. A bloody
genius who has a genuine passion for the music and its progression.

So basically my friend, with all due respect...I don't know what to tell
ya. Heheh, it is what it is, eh?. We can only progress with him in the
belief that he can lead this music into a new direction or get out there
and make it ourselves. Me, I'm sticking around.

techno is whatever you want it to be..

I've neglected to respond to the above:

What part of his music do you consider not techno anymore? Is it what
you think he will play at these house clubs or do you think his current
 material isn't techno?

i'll always consider his musc techno. him more than anyone has helped
shape the way i look at music and what i now do for a living.
it's jeff who says on the axis forum that his music isn't suitable for
techno clubs anymore. that's what pissed me off. who is he to decide
whether people who've followed his music all through his career are
no longer the people who should be out partying to his dj sets.

techno for me is anything electronic be it house, electro, gabber, acid
anything. and this is why you'll hear these styles more at a techno club
than say at tribal sessions where the music policy seems to be just
dull 15minute progressive house tunes and the oh so cool tech-house
bollocks (surely just techno for house dj's who can't bring themselves
to admit that after so many years dissing the music they're now actually
playing it)

if jeff wants to play these clubs and get a reaction then fair enough. but
why turn his back on those who've helped and supported him for so long.
we must get asked 5 or 10 times a week in the shop if we know when jeff
mills is playing in england again. in future i'll just say he isn't but why
not
go check out ben sims, carola, hawtin, bone etc, people with a real hunger
for what they do and a genuine love for the people who pay to hear them
play. like mills used to have.

paul

I really believe his quote is a genuine one and he's not full of shite.
LOL I think we're the ones who have the problem because we have put
techno in a box or given techno a stereotype whereas Mills hasn't,
hence the quote. Techno IS whatever we want it to be. Its Beligum
Rave, Gabber, its breaks, its tech-step, its tech-house, its TRANCE =),
its IDM, its glitch, its click-house, ambient...on and on.

Techno is Techno. Even Detroit Techno is its own brand of techno.

Ok, gotta go...the neighbors got the RB blastin' now and I have try
and to get back to work. =)

 Peace,

 glyph

so why is he now restricting himself to house clubs?

To you, they're house clubsto him they're places to wreak havoc in.
=)
I think we just need to remain calm and see what happens.
