Does anyone know if it is available anywhere else or will it be available at

Thanks, it looks interesting and I'd love to hear it.

2005-04-01 Thread Gerald
a few people have asked me if it's still available... usually the archive is
available for 1 week (till the next weekly edition of Equinox takes it's
place). I received quite a few d/l's on that show and Derrick Ortencio's
guest appearance - this is probably the reason why i went over my bandwidth
allowance for the month.

Anyways... the Traxx session is still on my server. I'll leave it up for
another week, then it's gone for sure. Here are the links:

Re: (313) Traxx, etc

2004-10-11 Thread Matt MacQueen

I guess you need
to know Traxx to envision it, but if you do, then it fits.

Kicked off? Did i miss that story?

Sorry if I created any confusion. Just hypothesizing,

well you're probably not too far off, Traxx used to DJ on WNUR, way way
back when... as did Derrick Carter. Also I agree that Dirty
Criminals joint on Gigolo is worth checking, not all cuts are winners
but there's enough good ones, it's raw -- Jungle Snake is the jam (sort
of a re-edit the Kikrokos - Jungle DJ break as hammered by Ron Hardy).
I imagine there will be a tour of some kind for sure, they are amped to
play together.

But i wish i could make the typical station experience sound glamorous,
ha.. he other 95% of the time DJing on the radio is largely a solitary
experience, in a tiny dank studio with a crap mixer, usually blown
monitor speakers, a mic box with no windows and you basically have no
contact with the outside world, other than a few calls / IMs that
trickle in of people who tell me they used to go to the warehouse or
the Music Box.. one woman called is telling me she's 40 and was telling
me Ron Hardy stories.. that was pretty cool. Then there's the guy who
calls every week who is like a city building inspector downtown working
the graveyard shift and every week requests Hercules - 7 Ways to Make
You Jack. But hey, they're still out there...

peace

traxx is from chicago, iirc. i've seen him play three or four times, and
every time his sets have been both very fascinating and extremely
dancable. i know he's got at least one (likely multiple) release(s) out

I remember going to shoot a party for my video production class a bit over a
year ago. I stuck around till about 5 am and was able to get a short interview
with the guy. He is an old schooler, been around since the late 70's in what
he called the circa (the party scene).

Hes one of my favorite DJs to see, flawless mixing and die hard
experimentation. I remember him droping Nirvana in a set so well that all
anyone could do was stand around and smile! Blew me away. What an ear bender!
Hes full of good stories, and a very friendly man. He wouldn't let anyone go
until he shook your hand and thanked you for coming.

Respect to traxx. If you go to one of his sets, be prepaired for anything. Be
sure to see him If he ever swings by your neck of the woods.

Peace 313

This is the crew he's part of in Chicago
http://www.soulfoundationkollective.com there's another bio on this site.

There's an archived set of his on Renegaderhythms.com, but last I checked
their streams were down.

Also he's got an album coming out on Gigolo sometime soon, I was lucky
enough to hear it when he was here and it's f*ckin' hot.

Long story short if you get a chance to check him out do not miss out.

You know traxx will make you sweat, and if you stand too close he'll
get his sweat on you! Traxx is the originator of DJ'ing as an athletic
event!

Yeah... He played it The track is called Passion and I
couldnt be more proud of him for it. A full on 10 minute musical
compostion. Playing it for anything less than 9 mins is damn
near criminal

And the White Labels are on Red Vinyl too!!!

It should be out on Gigolo in July.

Also, Traxx is officially a Monthly resident at Family. He will
play the last Tuesday of every month down there

derek.

For those that attended this event last night, I'm curious to
find out what
you people thought of Mel's performance? Did he play his new
remix of the
DJ Hell song (I forgot the name of the title)?

Re: (313) Traxx on Equinox - correction

2000-04-20 Thread Gerald
DJ Traxx will throw down a set

Sorry folks but Traxx didn't make it down last night. He couldn't be
pried away from the decks at Nasa nightclub - I stopped by after the
show, and there was Traxx behind the decks, while Peter Grove (Sunkissed
- Woodworks Rec.), Stephane Vera (Teknostep - Underground Therapy), and
Dan Lui (Rainfield - Chair Rec.) were jamming away on their respective
gear. Quite a sight! ...and sound as well!

Cheers,

Gerald
